PEBL 2.0 Painting Complete/Photo Update
Our PEBL demo was being primed for painting. We are happy to report that this stage was completed earlier last week, and we've attached a few example photos.
The basic form of PEBL is clearly visible in these pictures, and this is what the 2.0 body will look like. Several customers have asked about this, and the photos illustrate the new sleek, aerodynamic shape.
Next steps are: installation of windshield, doors, electrical components, and interior finishes.

We’re pleased to announce that color offerings have been greatly expanded in 2023. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, they will come with an extended body warranty. These new color choices will go into effect in March, and will be included on both lower & upper body panels on all finished 2.0’s, moving forward. The team at BetterBike is constantly being asked if PEBL is street legal, and we hope the following thoughts helps to clarify things.
First, PEBL is legally classified as an eBike. This means that no license, registration or insurance is needed to operate the vehicle.
Second, PEBL is specifically made for driving directly within the flow of traffic, or in the bicycle lanes. These are the only recommended usage cases.
PEBL is NOT made to use on sidewalks, aside from driving on one temporarily to perhaps park at a bike rack, etc. A 250lb. vehicle that is much wider & heavier than a traditional bicycle cannot be driven safely on a sidewalk for extended periods, due to the risk factor to those walking in close proximity.
Again, the absolute safest - and recommended - ways to use a PEBL are directly within the flow of traffic, or in the bike lanes.
When we say "within the flow of traffic" we do NOT mean driving on main arteries or thoroughfares where vehicle speeds are in excess of 30-35 MPH. Instead, we're referencing secondary/tertiary roads and side streets. Usually anyplace where vehicle speeds are under 40 MPH.
The reason we recommend these types of places, is because PEBL can keep up just fine within this speed window. Further, it can do so safely.
As long as you're mindful of impatient drivers - and occasionally pull aside to let them pass ahead of you - operating a PEBL in these circumstances is what our bikes were designed for.
Some people feel safer riding only in the bike lanes, and if your geographic area offers these, by all means use them. We have many customers who do just this.

*Never use PEBL on highways or interstates. PEBL's are not made for this, and doing so is highly dangerous.
*PEBL is only recommended for driving on secondary-type roads where vehicle speeds do not exceed 35-40 MPH.
*PEBL should not be driven on sidewalks, unless doing so temporarily to park or lock the bike.
*Bike lanes are perfect for riding PEBL's, and if you have these where you live, feel free to use them.

BetterBike is VERY pleased to release the newest photos of our completed 2.0 model bike design!
While we know that the lengthy delays have been enormously frustrating, we hope that these pictures bring reassurance and enthusiasm to all of our valued customers, as it means that production is now flowing smoothly, and PEBL’s will soon be delivered over the course of the coming winter season.
