Wednesday evening the Butler Farm Show held their Annual Membership Banquet. Members gathered for a dinner, business meeting, election of directors and some wonderful fellowship!
2 seats in the non-agricultural category were up for election and 4 seats in the agricultural category.
Elected to serve a 3 year in the non ag category
Kevin Loomis
Chris Michel
In the agricultural category to serve a 3 year term we want to welcome a new board member Zach Frazier. Zach has been actively involved working with computer programs for entries, livestock shows and with the 4H & FFA jr livestock auction. Zach was a 4H member and showed cattle at the farm show and other shows around the country. Zach works in the ag industry for Sterilex, a company that specializes in disinfectants for the meat processing industry. He lives in Prospect.
Also elected were
Terry Cranmer
Cody Stephenson
Michael Dean
We want to recognize and say thank you to Alvin Vogel who decided it was time to pass the torch and retire from the board after over 20 years of serving. Alvin was in charge of the beef cattle department and he and his wife Donna along with their sons took care of the fish pond at the main entrance and also the flowers at the main gate. He served on the building and grounds committee and was always available to help with any projects. Alvin promised that he won’t be a stranger!
Congratulations to all the newly elected directors! We’re getting ready for farm show #79, August 9-14, 2027. Come experience the tradition with us!

One of the most impressive and emotional parts of the week is watching the 4H and FFA members gather in the ring for the opening ceremonies prior to the Jr Livestock Auction. The Pledge of Allegiance, the 4H pledge and the FFA motto are recited. The Butler Farm Show is the Roundup for 4H and FFA in Butler Co. The Jr Livestock Auction is the highlight of the week for the young people who have worked very hard to raise their market livestock projects. We are grateful for the generous support of our community to these young folks, our auction is always a huge success!

Turkeys were added to the poultry department for the first time this year! Poultry has always been a popular part of the farm show and adding turkeys has just made it even more exciting. Just like the poultry meat pens, turkeys were included in the jr livestock auction. Poultry is the ideal project for the 4H or FFA members who have limited space to raise a project.
