Join us tomorrow night! We’re bringing the Gaga Pit because nothing says community togetherness quite like standing in an octagon and trying to knock a ball at your neighbor’s ankles.

Stop by, say hi, hop in for a game, and see if you have what it takes to become the unofficial National Night Out Gaga Champion!

The Bourne Police Department will be hosting our annual National Night Out on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 5PM to 7PM in Buzzards Bay Park.

This FREE event will celebrate the amazing community partnerships we have and also honor the lives lost and heroes that responded to NYC 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

This years event will include free food and beverages prepared by the Bourne Patrolmen's Association and Upper Cape Tech as well as many activities and vehicle demos from our amazing community partners. There will be K9 demos by the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office, a flyover by the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, activities and line dancing from the Bourne Recreation Department, music by Mix 104.1, and much more!

Confirmed participants for this years event include: Bourne Police Department, Bourne Patrolmen's Association, Bourne Fire Department, Bourne DPW, Bourne DNR, Bourne Recreation Department, Bourne Public Library, Bourne Council on Aging, Bourne ISWM, Bourne Public Schools, Upper Cape Tech, CCRLEC SWAT, Massachusetts State Police, MA State 9-1-1, Bourne Substance Free Coalition, US Army Corps, First Net, Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce, Fishin' for a Mission, MA DCR Fire, Cape & Islands Veteran's Outreach, Cadence Academy, and various branches of our honorable United States military.

Speaking of great community partnerships…

Bourne Youth Lacrosse and Bourne Rec are teaming up again to bring back the popular Stix Clinic! This spring, 42 kids hit the field, learned new skills, built confidence, and enjoyed the game of lacrosse..all completely free of charge!

We’re excited to keep this great community partnership going and give even more kids the opportunity to pick up a stick and play starting next Friday!

If Pocasset Rec's Baseball Field looks a little different, that’s because it is! The infield has officially been extended by 10 feet, allowing the field to accommodate 50/70 Intermediate play for Bourne Youth Baseball

This improvement started at our annual meeting with Administration, DPW, Rec, and BYB, where the organization identified the need for a field that could better support this level of play. BYB then brought the request before the Bourne Recreation Committee, which voted to support the upgrade.

From there, Bourne Department of Public Works got to work, completing the field improvements last Friday. A big thank you to the DPW crew for their hard work and for helping make this project happen!

We’re proud to work alongside Bourne Youth Baseball and all of our local youth organizations that provide opportunities for Bourne kids to play, learn, grow, and be part of a team.

Great partnerships lead to great improvements for our community and we can’t wait to see this field in action with fall ball!

Are you looking for a fun way to get active, meet up with friends, and enjoy some friendly competition? Two great programs are kicking off very soon at Bourne Rec!

Backyard Basketball (5th - 8th graders) - Wednesdays, Starting September 9th.
Grab your sneakers and head to our “backyard” for 8 weeks of pickup basketball! New teams are formed each week, with two 16-minute halves, a scoreboard, and Coach Jonathan calling the game. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just love to play, all skill levels are welcome!

Evening Pickleball (18+) - Mondays, Starting September 14th.
Pickleball is back at the Community Center! With 4 courts, rotating play, and plenty of opportunities to get in the game, it’s a great way to stay active and have some fun. Players of all abilities are welcome, just bring your paddle and know the rules, as instruction is not provided. Space is limited to 32 players, so don’t wait!

Fall 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting one at Bourne Recreation!

There’s something for everyone this season! Get creative with Arts & Crafts, stay strong and energized with our Fitness programs, hit the court for Basketball or Pickleball, learn some new moves with Beginner Line Dancing, or let the little ones have fun with our Pre-K Programs.

And we’re not stopping there! Get into the Halloween spirit with Trunk or Treat and our Halloween Costume Swap, and keep an eye out for more fun on the way!

🛟☀️A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING LIFEGUARDS! ☀️🛟

And just like that, 7 weeks of beach guarding have flown by!
We want to give a BIG shoutout to our incredible lifeguards who made this summer at Monument Beach such a success! From greeting patrons to keeping everyone safe and jumping into action when needed, they truly did it all.

They bandaged fingers, patched up toes, answered questions, kept a watchful eye on the water, and somehow managed to do it all with a smile!

Being a lifeguard is about so much more than watching the water. It’s about responsibility, teamwork, kindness, and being there for our community. Our crew showed all of that and more every single day.

Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and for helping make our beach a safe, welcoming, and FUN place to spend the summer!

Note: Swim lessons will continue at Monument Beach for 1 more week and a lifeguard is assigned to oversee the safety of this program.

Calling all future lacrosse stars in Grades 4–8! Bourne Recreation is thrilled to welcome Coach Samantha Ziehl, Bourne High School's Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach, for an action-packed week of skill-building, teamwork, and fun!

With decades of coaching experience, including championship-winning teams in Bourne and across Cape Cod, Coach Ziehl brings an incredible passion for the game and a proven ability to help players of every skill level grow in confidence and improve their game. Whether you're picking up a stick for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills before the season, this clinic is for you!
