1 YEAR of GROW for Nathan!!

One year.

138 workouts.

And a whole lot of strength built along the way.

When Nathan started at GROW, he began with personal training three times a week. He was learning the movements, working on his form, and building a completely new strength-training routine.

Eventually, he transitioned from one-on-one training into semi-private training.

But one thing hasn't really changed:

He keeps showing up three times a week.

At his early goal reviews, Nathan said he was proud of making it to every appointment, even the morning ones.

At six months, he was still most proud of how frequently he was coming in.

At nine months?

Consistency.

And now that consistency has added up to 138 workouts in his first year.

He's stronger. He's built muscle. He's learned a LOT more about strength training and nutrition. And he's gone from needing one-on-one coaching to confidently training alongside others in semi-private.

There have also been plenty of weeks over the past year when life or his body didn't cooperate perfectly.

But a long-term routine isn't built by having 52 perfect weeks.

It's built by continuing to come back.

Congratulations on one year, Nathan!

138 down, and we're excited to see what year two brings.

One of the best reasons to strength train has nothing to do with what you see in the mirror.

It's what you want your body to still be capable of doing 10, 20 or 30 years from now.

Getting off the floor.

Carrying your own groceries.

Traveling.

Working in your yard.

Playing with your kids or grandkids.

Continuing to do the things you enjoy without constantly wondering whether your body can handle them.

You can't control everything about getting older.

But you CAN continue giving your body a reason to stay strong.

That's what we're training for.

50 workouts for Vicki!!

Five months ago, Vicki came to GROW ready to get back to something she had always enjoyed: lifting weights.

And she had a pretty ambitious goal.

She told us she wants to keep strength training well into her 90s.

50 workouts later, she's building toward exactly that.

Vicki has settled into a routine of two group classes and one personal training session with Coach Savanna each week. She's gotten stronger, become more comfortable with the barbell, and noticed everyday life getting easier.

But one of her biggest changes has actually been how she approaches strength training.

Vicki told us:

“I really, really want proper form. I don't care how many times you need to correct me or remind me. I just want to do each exercise correctly.”

She went on to explain that she used to care more about going fast and lifting heavy.

Now?

She wants to learn how to move well so she can keep doing this for a very long time.

Because getting stronger isn't only about what you can lift today.

It's about building a body that allows you to keep doing the things you want to do for years to come.

Congratulations on 50, Vicki!

5 YEARS of GROW for Mark!

Mark isn't going to give us a long inspirational speech about this one.

That's just not Mark.

But after 5 years and around 666 workouts, his actions have said plenty.

He shows up.

He does the work.

He works with what his body can do that day.

And then he comes back and does it again.

Because after five years of strength training, not every workout is going to be your best workout.

Some days you feel great and can push.

Other days something hurts, you're tired, or your body makes it pretty clear that today's workout needs to look a little different.

Mark has gotten pretty good at understanding that adjusting the workout doesn't mean the workout doesn't count.

You don't have to PR.

You don't have to feel amazing.

You don't even have to be particularly excited about being there.

Sometimes long-term fitness really does look like showing up, doing what you can do that day, and continuing on.

Mark has done that for five years.

Around 666 times, actually.

Congratulations on 5 years, Mark! Thanks for keeping us entertained along the way.

One of the things we hear from people before starting at GROW:

"I'm nervous about joining a group class."

Usually because they picture walking into a room where everyone already knows what they're doing and trying to keep up.

That's not how this works.

You might have someone who's been strength training for years next to someone who started a few weeks ago.

They can do the same class without necessarily doing the exact same workout.

Weights can change. Movements can change. Coaches can modify.

You don't have to "get in shape" before you're ready to join us.

That's what we're here to help you do.

750 workouts for Nancy!!

Yes. SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY.

More than five years ago, Nancy walked into the gym scared and unsure of what she was getting herself into.

At the time, she couldn't do a squat.

She had to learn the movements, figure out what her body could do, work on her nutrition, and slowly build strength and confidence.

Today?

She's 68 years old and has completed 750 strength-training workouts.

She still trains 3–4 times most weeks. She's lifting weights, working on her squat range of motion, challenging herself, and continuing to set goals instead of deciding she's reached an age where she should simply maintain what she has.

When we asked what she thinks would be different at 68 if she hadn't kept strength training all these years, she gave us quite the answer.

But one part really stood out:

“Somewhere along the way, my mindset completely changed. I stopped asking myself, ‘Why should I go to the gym today?’ and started asking, ‘Why wouldn't I go to the gym today?’”

She says she feels stronger, healthier and more confident. She has range of motion and stamina she never thought she'd have at this age. And strength training has become part of who she is.

This is why we talk so much about training for the long game.

Not just what can change in 30 days.

What could your body still be capable of 5, 10 or 20 years from now because you chose to get stronger today?

Congratulations on 750, Nancy!

250 workouts for Dana!!

A little over a year ago, Dana walked into GROW incredibly nervous and intimidated to start strength training.

She also had a very personal reason for walking through the door.

After receiving a kidney transplant, Dana made a commitment to her donor and his family that she would do everything she could to live the healthiest life possible and take care of the gift she'd been given.

So even though she was scared, she started.

Now she's completed 250 workouts.

She's stronger, she's overcome her fear of barbells, and going to the gym has shifted from something she felt like she had to do to something she gets to do and wants as part of her life.

But her biggest lesson might have nothing to do with how much she can lift.

Dana shared:

“I've really come to terms with the fact that every person at the gym has their own story and their own journey.”

She used to feel intimidated when someone could lift heavier or had more endurance. Now:

“I don't compare my daily experience with anyone else's experience.”

And our favorite:

“I don't measure success with lifting heavier. I measure my success with just showing up each week and doing what I can do that week.”

From being scared to walk through the doors to 250 workouts and completely owning her own journey.

Congratulations, Dana! We're so proud of what you've built, and we can't wait to see what the next 250 bring.

25 workouts for Brandy!

A couple months ago, Brandy knew why she wanted to start strength training.

She wanted to build muscle, get stronger, and invest in being strong and capable for the long term.

There was just one problem:

She wasn't sure where to start.

Strength training was new. Group classes were outside her comfort zone. And during her first week, she admitted that personal training felt a lot more comfortable because following instructions in a group setting was still a challenge.

But she kept learning.

She worked one-on-one with Coach Savanna each week and continued showing up for her two group classes.

Now she's officially completed her first 25 workouts.

And when we asked what helped her get here, she said:

“Seeing results way faster than I ever thought possible helps keep me motivated. But I also just genuinely love your gym and the people there. I feel soooo lucky to have found it.”

Then she added:

“It's like the ideal scenario for me. I also love working with Savanna.”

That's what we want those first 25 workouts to do.

Not turn you into an expert.

Give you enough coaching, practice, and support that something you weren't sure how to start begins to feel like something you belong doing.

Congratulations on 25, Brandy! We're pretty lucky you found us too.

Getting stronger doesn't mean you have to walk into the gym and immediately start lifting heavy.

Strength is built over time.

You learn the movement.

You find a weight that's appropriate for YOU.

You practice.

And when you're ready, you add a little more.

Then one day you realize the weight that used to feel heavy doesn't feel quite so heavy anymore.

That's progress.

At GROW, we're not interested in comparing your weights to the person next to you.

We're interested in helping YOU get stronger than you were before.

Before joining GROW, Jess already knew something about herself:

Solo workouts didn't stick.

She wanted to get stronger and make fitness part of her life again, but she also knew she did better when there were other people around her to work with and encourage her.

Fast forward to her first 25 workouts.

She's learning movements that were completely new to her, adding weight to her front squats, feeling stronger, and noticing that hiking and camping don't feel quite as taxing anymore.

But when we asked what helped her keep coming back, she didn't mention any of those things.

She said:

“The community there is what helped me keep coming back. I always have fun with everyone. We work hard and joke harder.”

Sometimes the best workout program isn't just the one written on the board.

It's the one you actually want to come back to.

The people around you matter. Having coaches who know you matter. Working hard while still being able to laugh and enjoy the 45 minutes matters.

Jess is still building her routine, but 25 workouts in, she's already stronger than when she started and has found people who make showing up a little easier.

Congratulations on your first 25, Jess! Here's to the next 25.
