The Calais Skatepark

The Calais Skatepark Skatepark located in Calais, ME. All are welcome - Skateboards, BMX, Rollerblades and Scooters. Open dawn til dusk. Use at own risk - Helmets recommended.

Proudly built and maintained by volunteers. Located in Calais, Maine, our skatepark was an idea turned into reality in 1999, since then we have done our best to keep progressing in building new ramps, and getting the local skaters and BMX riders involved in new projects for the park. The Calais Skatepark has been a wonderful working progress since 1999. Randy McCormick is in charge of the Calais Skatepark Committee an they have put in a tremendous amount of time into this skate park. Ages from 5 all the way to adults go here and they really enjoy what Randy McCormick has done for them. This is a special skatepark project designed, built and funded by the Calais Skatepark Committee, directed by Calais High School Technology Education teacher, Randy McCormick, but energized by the young people of Calais. This park is modest, but growing, but in a small class of parks that are truly built by the young people themselves. The park is open to skateboarders, inline AND BMX bikes from dawn until 10:00 p.m. with the lights on from dusk until ten. The park includes 2-5' q-pipes, 2-4' q-pipes,1-8'q-pipe, 2-4'flat banks with ledges, 1-6' high and 20' long starter ramp, a crusher, a skateable picnic table and several moveable kickers and grind rails. The CSC has added a 16' x 21' pyramid at the park. We added a New Ramp in the summer of 2009 , again designed and built by students. We also have a skate building. This building offers concessions and a bathroom when CSC members are present.

Firstly, excuse our lack of posting since our last event. Our focus has shifted to a much more important situation.

Bruce has been a staple of the Calais Skatepark Committee and the Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund for many, many years. He’s volunteered countless hours at events and fundraisers, helped with park maintenance, given skate lessons, worked on parade floats, concessions, and has always been there to lend a hand whenever he could. He’s a huge part of what makes this community what it is.

Out of respect for Bruce and his family, we’ll keep the details short. Bruce is currently in the hospital in Bangor and may be facing a long stay. Once he’s able to be discharged, we don’t know what his situation will look like - whether he’ll be unable to work or only able to work part-time while he continues to recover.

We want to help Bruce be as prepared as possible for whatever comes next.

For the next month, every donation we receive through our Square will be placed into an account for Bruce.

If you’re able to donate, even a little bit, it will mean a lot to Bruce. And if you can’t, please keep Bruce in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for supporting one of our own.

What a day! The 6th Annual Skate 4 Life and 25 Year Celebration of the Calais Skatepark was a success!

The rain definitely tried to crash the party, but it didn’t scare these kids away! They showed up, showed off their skills, and brought the energy all day. So awesome to see.

Huge THANK YOU to all the local vendors, nonprofits, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this happen. It takes a lot of people to pull a day like this together, and we’re lucky to have such a great community behind it.

We’ve got plenty more thank-yous, winner announcements, and action shots coming throughout the week!

25 years of the Calais Skatepark - Fantastic achievement!

Thank you ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated at our road toll over the weekend! Your support truly means a lot to us.

We also want to give a special shoutout to all of our volunteers who gave up their time to make it happen. We couldn't do it without you.

Word is Jesse stepped up to the "do a kickflip" challenge in exchange for a $40 donation. Unfortunately, there's no video evidence, so for now it'll just be added to the ever-growing, unproven lore of the Calais Skatepark 😂

On a serious note, fundraisers like this are what make everything we do possible - maintaining and improving the Calais Skatepark, sending local kids to Woodward, hosting community events, and supporting our community members and veterans.

Thank you for believing in what we do and helping us continue to make a difference for the youth in our community. ❤️
