Beautiful sunshine.

Light breeze.

My daughter’s having a blast playing at one of her favorite parks.

And I’m sitting in my lawn chair with my journaling notebook, Google Docs, and ChatGPT open on my phone.

A few years ago, I probably would have told myself I couldn’t get any meaningful work done because I wasn’t at my desk.

Now I see it differently.

I don’t need perfect conditions.

I need work that fits the time I have available.

Sometimes that’s in my lawn chair at the park.

Sometimes it’s on my iPad at Starbucks.

Sometimes it’s at the kitchen counter.

Sometimes it’s on my phone while sitting in my favorite recliner at home.

Progress doesn’t have to happen at my desk in my office.

Progress can happen anywhere.

The key isn’t where I’m working.

It’s understanding what kind of work fits the time, energy, and tools I have available in that moment.

What matters isn’t perfect conditions.

What matters is continuing.

Something I've struggled with throughout my six years in the online space is surrendering the timeline.

Not because anyone was putting pressure on me.

But because I felt like I should be further along than I was.

Every business owner learns at their own pace.

For some, things click quickly.

For others, it takes longer to gather the experiences, information, and understanding needed for things to make sense.

I've come to realize that pressuring yourself to be where someone else is today, next month, or next year isn't a healthy place to work from.

It steals your ability to slow down.

To pay attention.

To learn.

To process.

To experiment.

To be curious about what might happen if you try something differently.

And when it comes to systems, curiosity matters.

Because good systems aren't built by forcing yourself into someone else's process.

They're built by slowing down long enough to understand how you naturally think, learn, process information, and continue your work.

That's the foundation.

Not perfection.

Not speed.

Not being further along.

Awareness.

So today I'm curious:

What is one area of your business where you're still carrying pressure that you may need to release?

Your systems?

Your content?

Your timeline?

I'd love to hear.

One thing I've been learning lately is that not all friction means something is wrong with you.

Sometimes the friction you're feeling is simply information. It may be your brain's way of telling you that it's struggling to fully process what you're trying to learn, understand, or do.

Over the past few months, I've been paying closer attention to how I naturally think, learn, process information, and work instead of forcing myself into systems that don't fit how my brain actually works.

What's been most surprising to me is how much lighter things feel now that I'm no longer constantly fighting myself. I've slowed down enough to pay attention, understand what's creating the friction, and figure out what I actually need.

I'm curious:

What's one area of your work or life where you're feeling friction lately?
