Alexis Mac Allister was at his brilliant best as Liverpool fought back to beat Villarreal 4-3 at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League. Two goals from the Argentine midfielder helped turn a dramatic contest into a memorable night for Liverpool, with Mac Allister leading the charge when his team needed him.

Bangladesh’s domestic cricket calendar is set for an early start to the 2026–27 Dhaka Premier League, with the tournament scheduled to run from February 17 to April 7, 2027. Matches will take place across five venues in Dhaka, with an additional venue kept on standby.

BCB will increase club funding by Tk 10 lakh, raising the allocation from Tk 15 lakh to Tk 25 lakh per team. The board will also provide lunch for players throughout the competition , while CCDM plans to introduce ADRS to reduce disputes over umpiring decisions. Drone use is also being considered for matches.

The schedule has been brought forward following changes to the BPL calendar. DPL qualifiers are expected to begin soon, followed by first division, domestic T20 and second division competitions.

Ferran Torres’ honeymoon time in Paris appears to be over. The “Greatest of Some Times” mood that followed his explosive PSG debut has faded, with Torres now back in normal mode.

Mohammad Rubel was one of the standout bowlers in the latest Top End T20 tournament, taking 23 wickets in just seven matches. Yet, the right arm spinner was not included in Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games.

Now, chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon has explained why. According to Bashar, selectors had to submit a 30 player squad for the Asian Games around three months before the tournament, when Rubel was not yet in serious consideration.

Asian Games regulations do not allow changes outside the permitted rules after that deadline. Rubel’s current form came later, with strong performances in the Top End T20 tournament. Bashar also indicated that Rubel could be part of Bangladesh’s future plans after his recent performances.

BCB President Tamim Iqbal has pointed out that CWAB is not getting much room to complain about this year’s BPL cancellation, with the board working on alternative ways to financially support a wider group of cricketers.

In May 2026, the first class match fee was increased from Tk 75,000 to Tk 100,000. Just four months later, BCB has raised it again by another Tk 50,000, taking the fee to Tk 150,000. So while players are losing a year of BPL earnings, BCB has increased first class match fees by Tk 75,000 within four months.
