Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait has resigned from his position due to personal and family reasons. The former Australian fast bowler informed the BCB that he is unable to continue in his role with the Bangladesh national team.

Tait played an important role in the development of Bangladesh’s fast bowling group, working closely with pacers including Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam.

His departure comes as a significant blow ahead of a busy international schedule, leaving Bangladesh searching for a new pace bowling coach.

Bangladesh have announced their squad for the upcoming ODI series against a strong Australian side, with Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Nurul Hasan Sohan making their return to the national setup.

Ahead of the series, the team will begin its preparation camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from June 4. The three match ODI series will begin on June 9, followed by matches on June 11 and June 14 in Mirpur. The action will then move to Chattogram, where the two teams will play three T20Is on June 17, 19 and 21.

After a wait of nearly 41 months, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat has finally returned to Bangladesh’s ODI squad for the upcoming Australia series.

Mosaddek's last ODI appearance for Bangladesh came on August 10, 2022, against Zimbabwe. Since then, he had remained outside the national setup despite continuing to perform in domestic cricket.

Following his omission from the New Zealand series squad, selectors assured Mosaddek that he remained in their plans and would be considered for the Australia series. Now, they have kept that promise.

Former Wales manager Chris Coleman has now emerged as the leading candidate to become the next head coach of the Bangladesh national football team.

During a recent national team committee meeting, chairman Tabith Awal reportedly suggested that one coach should be given priority consideration as the federation’s number one option.

At that point, the name of Chris Coleman was brought forward. According to discussions inside the meeting, Tabith believes Coleman’s arrival would not only improve Bangladesh football technically, but also bring international attention and credibility to the country’s football project. Other committee members also reportedly agreed and supported the idea of giving special importance to the former Wales coach.

An additional key point is that Coleman wants to arrive with his full coaching staff, signalling that he sees the Bangladesh project as a serious long term challenge rather than a short term assignment.
