PATCHES AND MORE....

Patches earned during last session's playoffs and the first couple of weeks of the current session, along with Miilestone plaques and plates were distributed over the weekend. Be sure to stop by your designated pick-up location and get yours before they disappear!

A special shout out to Loren Crawford (Ojai), Sue Peden (Stiix), Anthony Plascencia (Q-Club), Stephanie Maxwell (Take Five), Roger Medina (The Copper Bucket), Cheryl Plumb (Paul's Tavern), Dave Perras (Nectar), James Jackson (Champs), Marisa Everrett (The Rattler) and Josh Pitts (The Break Room) for graciously volunteering to drop them off.

NOTE: We were at Lucky Cue over the weekend and there were multiple envelopes there from LAST session.

SPORTSMANSHIP ABOVE ALL!!

I can't take much more of this....
We've just heard that Harry Stewart, a former Commander at the American Legion Post 520 and member of South Coast APA from 2003 to 2024 has also passed. Harry was 80 years young and played most recently at the 520 and the VFW 8310 before that. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones. RIP Harry.

A Celebration of Life has been scheduled at VFW 8310, The Gudgeon Ship in Burbank on June 7 at 1:30pm.

Pictured below, Harry, Phil and Gamp (as I see them).

It is with a great deal of sadness that we share the passing of two former members of our APA family, both of whom made an impact during their time playing in this area.

Stephen "Gamp" Gambino, 72 years young, participated in the Foothill area from September 2009 through December 2024. A SL7/8 who would always make time to share his knowledge with newbies and truly enjoyed the coaching aspects of his participation in the League. Gamp had stopped playing due to some health issues, but we always thought he would be back...

Phil Burns, 77 years young, joined APA in 1998 and played with us through December of 2013 when he moved away, but it wasn't long before he found APA in his new home and played in that area until 2025 when he moved to the desert. Phil played primarily in the SFV, making Ujpest and Paladino's his home. Phil will always be remembered by his big-ole cowboy hat, mustache and hi-pitch laugh. He was a real jokester, until you met him across the table.

They will both be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones. May they both rest in peace, and perhaps play a few games together.

...some gave all. Please take a moment to remember the reason for the Holiday. Thanks is never enough!

Not only did he make it to the Finals, we heard about his great sportsmanship and attitude throughout the event. Our apologies to Jon for not posting this sooner. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

APA Scorekeeping - How to Edit a Match 05/17/2026

Summer session kicked-off with the Saturday division yesterday. All schedules have been released and are subject to change, so make sure to check back often, and definately on your first night of play, for last minute changes. A couple of reminders:

Too many teams are forgetting to compare their total points for the night. If those number don't match, there's an error on someone's scoresheet. Review the matches and edit as needed. How do you edit a match? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYy7T0fkQ1U

Please make use of the submit button. We can "force" the submission, but it would be helpful if teams would do that on their own.

Team fees are payable ON the day/night of play, NOT the next day/morning. Our schedules vary greatly and in order to maintain current stats, we need to process matches the day after they are played.

ALL players are required to know how to keep score. A team can NOT refuse to split tables because "no one else on the team knows how to keep score". If that occurs, the shooter will have to keep score of their own match. Splitting tables is NOT optional.

Please don't forget........SPORTSMANSHIP ABOVE ALL!!

The schedules for Sunday 7ft DJ divisions have been taken down as we work through some changes. Monday divisions have already been released and Tuesday will be released shortly. Please keep checking back for updates. Better yet, make sure you look at your schedule before heading out to your matches to make sure you are going to the right place. Changes are fast and furious from this point forward. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

05/12/2026

Preliminary schedules for the Saturday and Sunday divisions have been released. Please remember -- if your team is scheduled for a bye, your team is on "STAND-BY" and may need to play on short notice should the bye get filled or dropped. The rest of the schedules will be released as soon as they become available.
