I haven’t posted one picture for the entire buoy 10 season this year. But we had a great season so far. Lots of limits or close to limits. Lots of laughs and boats full of awesome people for sure. This place has been red hot, ice cold and everything in between for the last 5 weeks. Just when you have a pulse on the fish they throw a curveball at you and you find yourself scratching your head!! I had a ton of boat issues with my kicker, lost my phone in the water at my slip and dove in and swam to the bottom in 12’ of water all to rupture my eardrum and not get my phone. Lost a solid week of killer fish pictures because my phone hadn’t backed up for a week and a half. Ugh. That led to a hospital visit for a bad ear infection I had to fish with for a couple days. Here is some eye candy.
I have open days in September due to the river closure and people not being able to get to Astoria. If you want in on 30-40 fish days give me a shout!

I have to give a shout out to Jim Milanowski, the owner and creator of Loonie Coonies shrimp which IMO are the best c**n shrimp on the Market. I have been at his house when he is curing the bait. Several times. The time and attention to detail he puts into the process is second to none. Every bait in every jar is a quality bait. He throws away 6 out of 10 shrimp because they are not the quality he desires. The secret cure he came up with outfishes any other bait on the market 5 to 1. Minimum. I have put more clients on limits of steelhead with this bait than I can count. You can have a good spot, good tide, good water temps and good run of fish, but without good bait you are darn near wasting your time. There is no substitute for quality bait. Period. Thank you Jim for having such a great product. You give me an unfair advantage on the water.

Had a quick limit of steelhead this morning. They were biting like piranha again. I love it when a plan comes together even after clients are an hour and a half late!

Steelhead have been biting like piranha! Doubles almost every day with plenty of opportunity for everyone on the boat to take quality fish home for the table and fight some beautiful wild fish.

Look at the difference in a springer versus a summer chinook. Man they are nice fish!!

Some are fatter than others.

We poked around looking for new steelhead water. We caught one steelhead and a perfect specimen of a hatchery summer chinook that got to live another day. Loonie Coonies are such great baits!

I am not the best at posting pics. But spring chinook season in the Columbia was short and gone before the fish were here as usual which makes for some tough fishing. We got fish every day but one. I felt fortunate for that!
Willamette is spotty but there are definitely fish to be had. Tight lines!
