EJ2 Track Rat

I wasn’t there in person but I was there in spirit 🥹

We moved the Honda Challenge group chat from Facebook to Discord and started wrangling up like-minded Honda track rats to rekindle Junior Varsity Honda Challenge

Today a bunch of the JVHC young bouls showed up at NJMP and made us racers proud. Don’t worry, us “veterans” already have them buying action cameras for in-car 😃

New class for the car, getting rained on all day, leading the pack for a couple laps— what a rush!

What a weekend. No one in showed up for the first race of the season. So, instead of racing myself I decided to hop into ST5.
▪️
With help from some of my wisest consultants and suppliers I made my car legal for the class with items such as: ugliest hood I’ve seen in my life.
▪️
Saturday was a wash, figuratively and literally— due to…issues…but now it’s all water under the bridge (heh 😏).
▪️
Sunday was much better. Worked my way from P7 to P3 in a hectic qualifying race and then held that position in the main race. I had front running pace for a couple laps until the front tires fell off. I even led some laps!

Short little trip up to Lime Rock Park and back this weekend for some instructing and testing with .

It wasn’t the most convenient trip, living in South Jersey, but I want to support my region! Luckily, I had a bunch of fun chasing this M3 through traffic in HPDE3.

Well, I guess I’m happy?

I couldn’t get the ABS bled so the brakes were super soft, I got black-flagged for a fuel leak in my third session, my ECU glitched out and I was low on power for two sessions, I have some water temperature indication/management things to consider/manage, and the car didn’t really feel all that much faster.
▪️
But I will say that I am so grateful for this community of people I have around me supporting me in so many endeavors— personal and even professional. The racing community is amazing. You should try it some time.

Oh and yeah, I guess the car otherwise drove pretty fine today 😊

What a killer end to my second season with the Urban Youth Racing School!

Tonight was the sim racing league championships and sponsorship presentations.
▪️
A lot of these kids couldn’t turn a lap without crashing when they first started, but tonight I watched them race the best I’ve ever seen and give some killer presentations in front of our management and sponsors.

Even more rewarding to see is the long-term growth these kids have put forth. I look forward to sharing the track with them in a near future.
