The ref team really added another level of legitimacy to the sport of competitive kubb. Head ref, Jesse Fraim, lead the team of Emily Jipp O’Sullivan, Dee Dee Halvorson, and Jason Halvorson. Their presence and confirmation of calls was welcome and leaned on. Thank you to each of you for making the trip from Michigan and Minnesota for this special event. Seeing those striped shirts in every corner of the pitch made the games that much more official. There were calls made that were handled with professionalism and expertise. You were the best team for the job 🤩🙌. Jesse, you were Steve’s right hand man and filled those shoes perfectly. Many thanks.

Steve just left for the last of clean-up from the Inaugural US Kubb Club Championship. Going through the 800 photos that our niece, Jodi, took throughout the day/night 💫, I looked at this particular one and just had to express my awe of him, and his vision. Steve has been creating this idea of a club championship in his head for several years and on paper for over a year. With the help of donors, sponsors, and many helping hands, it came to life this past weekend in perfect splendor. His love of the game, of what it represents - peace and unity, of sharing the joys of playing with his family, making endless new friends, stretching the game into fun new twists, has sparked his innovative mind. A lifetime entrepreneur and creator of the new and unexplored has always piqued his adventurous spirit. Kubb Clubs and the just launching; School Kubb Initiative — developing interest in Kubb and Kubb Clubs in schools, is kindling a new fire of energy and effort. His intentions are always for the good of all. Glad to be by his side for this Kubb adventure. C

We present the winner of the 2026 GJERMUNDBU CROWN for being selected the first US KUBB CLUB OF THE YEAR …….. Eau Claire Kubb League, the oldest and largest active kubb club in the USA.

All of the known Kubb Clubs across the U.S. have been evaluated since January, and awarded points based on 8 criteria that support the spirit of local Kubb. So many clubs were worthy of the award, and we hope the future names engraved on the trophy will include yours.

More detail will come about the 8 criteria , but they are, in summary:
1 Local Activity
2 Social Media Identity
3 Event participation as a club
4 Kubb promotion/growth
5 Year-Round activity
6 Fundraising/Community involvement
7 Partnerships
8 Support of the AKA

Warhawks Kubb - our first school Kubb club from Weyauwega Fremont School District, competed in the weekend Club Championship. Thank you to their band teacher, Andrew Schmidt, for starting the club, driving them to and from the tournament (in the school van), and encouraging them to compete in their first tournament. They went away with commemorative medals, many high fives, raffle prizes, and huge cheers from everyone. We hope to see them next year along with other school clubs. Fun, yet strong competition, and friendly camaraderie is what the Club Championship is all about. Thanks so much for coming, Parker, Coralie, Ariston, Cody, Jordy, and Lucas.
