This little one is out of one of our mares, but owned and bred by our friends at Beat'n Branch Icelandics! We look forward to the great things in store for him!

It’s always bittersweet when our homebred horses depart for their new adventures! This week we sent off Humla 🐝 and Matthías 🖤 from Seliana to their new homes in CO and MA.

We will miss them, but we’re also thrilled to see them enjoy their new homes 🥰

You don’t see a pedigree like this every day! 🤩 Droplaug is a stunningly beautiful young mare. Taller than average, great conformation, sturdy build. As a young horse growing up in Iceland, Droplaug has not had much handling, but she was very interested in following me around the field, nuzzling my hair, searching my pockets, and so on. She was totally nonreactive to new things like a halter and lead blowing in the wind with the hardware clinking, rummaging through a plastic bag to get carrots, and other things that are notorious for startling horses.

With her exceptional pedigree, Droplaug is an excellent prospect to start or upgrade a breeding program. She is ready to start training under saddle, and will be sent for training this fall if not sold - $ to increase with training. Based on my limited time with her, I expect she will be quite easy to train, due to her moderate sensitivity level (not totally dull, but not easily startled) and people-oriented demeanor.

Curious, beautiful young mare. Has not been handled much yet as a young horse growing up in Iceland, but I was able to approach her easily, and give her scritches and pets all over. Followed me around with interest all over the field. Did not get annoyed with me even after an hour+ getting photos from multiple angles. 🤣 Pretty confident I could have gotten a halter on her with a just little more time and in a slightly more enclosed area!

She has beautiful conformation, with very tall withers and an uphill build. Lightly built in the body, but still has good bone in the legs. I would estimate she is approx. 13.2 hands, but please note that I did not measure her with a stick out in the field.

Leynd is a great prospect for someone who wants to have a young horse trained in Iceland prior to export, or for someone who wants a young horse to put in a program. While she is a curious and friendly horse, she would likely not be suitable as a brand new owner’s very first training project. She could do well with a dedicated beginner working closely with a professional.
