Chess in The Park

Hi everyone!

Very sorry for the late post on this, between coordinating with the two taking over and my own schooling it has taken some time to get everything organized. Unfortunately unless extreme circumstances come up I will not be showing up this year to the park since I've moved. Posts from here on out, including this flyer will be from David and Spencer. Thank you to everyone that has come over the past few years and I hope that you and your kids continue to come play chess at Legacy park with Spencer and David. They are both bilingual and knowledgeable in teaching beginning players!

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a long school year, and it’s time to spend summer keeping that brain in shape and have fun doing it! I am proud to announce that this year, I (James Hansen) will be stepping down from running the show and leaving the reigns in the hands of three of my past students: Felix Vega, David Asunción, and Spencer Chapin!

Chess in the Park is a free event intended for everyone, we have players of all different types of skill. Whether you’re looking to play a quick game with a friend, a competitive game against someone new, or learn from another player or from our book collection. In addition, we will run a nwsrs rated tournament at the end of the summer, on our last meet, August 27th, contingent on enough interest/attendance. Donations are accepted but by no means required.

When: Monday’s: 1-3pm July 2nd – August 27th

Summer is here! With just over a week to our first meet on 7/3, it is looking to be a good year for chess. For those of you following top level chess, Carlsen is slaughtering the Paris tournament. For those of you not, it's time to get inspired! Come down to Legacy park at 1:30 to make some progress in you or your children's chess abilities!
