To all of our incredible Sunshine Athletics family and community:

For those who may not have heard, we recently closed our doors, and want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your support over the years. While the decision to close was a difficult one made with heavy hearts, we’re excited to announce that Canby Jiu Jitsu has moved into the space we once called home!

Our awesome friends at CJJ are ready to carry on the jiujitsu journey for the community, and we are incredibly excited for them!

Way to go ! Just a week after his dominant performance at Cruz stepped into the cage against a tough opponent and came out with a big victory in the second round. Congrats, Cruz - we are all proud of you!

Huge shoutout to Cruz for his gold medal win in no-gi at Grappling Industries today! 🥇

From the very start, Cruz was explosive, technical, and ridiculously entertaining to watch on the mats! There’s something truly special about seeing someone in their element, and that’s exactly what it felt like with Cruz today - he walked in so casually, performed so dominantly, then walked out just as casually…but this time with a gold medal around his neck.

We’re so proud of him and happy to have him as part of our team!

Big congratulations to blue belt Jonny Walker for his double gold wins at the Grappling Industries tournament today! 🥇🥇 Jonny had some incredible matches, showcasing his technical wrestling and jiujitsu skills. His ability to adapt on the fly made his performance truly standout.

Jonny has been a huge asset to our team, and we’re beyond grateful to have him with us. So proud of you, Jonny, and can’t wait to see what’s next! 💪

Massive congratulations to Aaliyah, one of our talented gray belts, for her impressive performance at today’s tournament! 🥈 Silver in both gi and no-gi!

Aaliyah has been with us for a while, and her calm, composed, and methodical approach to jiu-jitsu is truly something special. She’s a force to be reckoned with from every position, and it’s such a joy to watch her compete.

We’re so proud of her growth and can’t wait to see where her jiu-jitsu journey takes her next—she’s only getting better and better! 🌟

Shoutout to Olivia, one of our incredible 13-year-old white belts! 🌟 In just a few months of training, she’s shown an amazing ability to focus, listen, and put her coaches’ advice into action.

Today, at only her second tournament, she took home 🥇 gold in both gi and no-gi! We’re so proud of her hard work and can’t wait to see how she continues to grow in her jiu-jitsu journey! Keep shining, Olivia! 💥

Big shoutout to Rogue, one of our nine-year-old white belts, for his amazing performance at today’s tournament! 🥈 Silver in gi and 🥇 Gold in no-gi! Plus we have to call out those slick armbars and that textbook triangle!

Rogue joined us in the summer of 2023 and his focus and fluidity on the mat have been inspiring to watch. We’re beyond proud of his growth and can’t wait to see where his jiujitsu journey takes him next! Keep up the great work, Rogue! 💪
