These words right hereā¦. This is a general statement as I think about upcoming dance placements. This is not just about auditions but the past year in general. Sometimes the blame is directed towards the instructor. But these words āI give you what you give meā at least for me, is 100% true, and unfortunately, this can be misconstrued as favoritism when the one who works harder gets more attention. That is absolutely not the case. If youāre not going put forth the effort, why should your instructor? Maybe the kids that work the hardest seem to get the most attention because their intention to listen, to take correction and to be invested in the competitive team is much stronger than yours. You can talk a good talk, but if youāre not walking the walk, itās very evident. No one is entitled to anything what you receive is what you earn, and I assure you that our staff is incredibly fair.
Be the best you can, take ownership over your work ethic and commitment to corrections. Parents, I encourage you if thereās disappointment in whatever placement your child receives that you come to us and talk to us about what happens in the classroom & why certain decisions have been made. There is never a personal reason, we just always want to do whatās best for our groups because we are a competitive team. Year after year, we prove that we can do well and remain humble and just have a good group of kids. I hope everybody appreciates what a special thing that we have at DEPAC. From kids that have had different experiences at different places I assure you itās not always the case.ā¤ļø

Sometimes āFavoritismā is a very misused word in the dance teachers world. THIS post explains what it really is. When an instructor whether it is in DEPAC itself or in a convention or summer program, most instructors will give what they get. When the hard-working, well-behaved student is giving 100%, they deserve to get it from us in return. That is not favoritism, Itās mutual energy and respect. We are coming up on fun times, recital and celebrating the end of our 30th year but company auditions will be here before you know it. Before blaming an instructor for not being placed in certain numbers I encourage you to find your ownership in what you receive. What have you earned? Because placements are not personal or showing favoritism. Placements are based on much more. Dedication, behavior, correction efforts & quality of movement and for sure not entitlement. For the kids who donāt read FB posts or IG, read this with them.
