We run a drill in practice called our “Everyday Drill”. We work on flyballs to RF and the long throw to 3B. Yesterday, Miss MB, got “that” opportunity in a game and worked it to perfection. Runner on 2nd with 1 out. Pop fly towards the RF line, she lines herself up, secures the catch and delivers a strike to 3B for the inning ending double play getting the runner tagging from 2nd. Great throw MB! Great tag, Kaitlyn!

Today we want to wish #29, Miss Olivia, the happiest birthday. Happy 14th, O!

This weekend we played in the USA Luck Of The Irish tournament. It was originally a 2-day. Then it was condensed to a 1-day. Then it was canceled by the park (thanks to the Friday rains). Then it was back…. but at a different park. The day started cold and windy with muddy infields. As the day warmed up, the fields began to dry. It turned out to be a great day for some softball.

We went 2-1 in our pool in a tie with two other teams. The run differential dropped us to the silver bracket where we hit and pitched our way into the championship game against the EC Bullets 08 - Gravley team. We got them earlier in the day in pool play but they jumped on us early and held on for the win in the championship game, 7-5. We learned a lot about ourselves yesterday and how competing until the end pays off. Stepping up and playing tough competition makes us stronger.

We had several offensive and defensive standouts from this weekend.

Hitting:
RBI - 6, A . Teems
RBI - 2, P. Uhlis, E. Stevenson, K. Bleisath, A. Stroud, L. Smith
HR - A. Teems
3B - A. Teems
2B - A. Teems, K. Bleisath, L. Smith
Multiple hits - K. Bleisath, R. Dooley, E. Stevenson, P. Uhlis, K. Redd, M. Tucker

Defensively, we had several outstanding plays made in the outfield. Sliding catches (Olivia), on the fly catches (Abi, MB, Laila), on the money throws gunning down runners and some diving stops on the dirt.

Pitching:
K’s - L. Smith (7), A. Teems (4)
Runs Allowed - R. Dooley (0), A. Teems (2)

Bases loaded, top of the 1st, 1 out, what’s your job? Drive in a run! Anyway you can! Help your team. When you’re a pitcher you can help yourself out too. Miss Abi steps up and goes off! Grand slam, 4 run lead, let’s go! Then throws a 2 hit gem for the W.

A new week and new challenge! This week we are playing local in Marietta, GA in some USA action with five games on Saturday!

Get it, K-Redd! This week we challenged her at the plate and she delivered. From sac bunts, to timely hits, her focus at the plate was on fire. Kid hit for .571, scoring 5 times and came through with a clutch RBI as well as with this nice bunt below.

This weekend we played in the USSSA March Madness tournament. We went 3-0 in pool play while earning the #1 overall seed heading into bracket play. That earned us a bye in the first round. We lost out to a stout Buford 08 team in the gold bracket championship game 5-4. We ended the day 4-1 and played really well for most of the day. We had a few “we can’t do that moments” but we rallied and got them corrected. I love the growth and determination of this team.

As a team we hit .396 and totaled 36 hits through the 5 games including 3 doubles (Kaitlyn, Abi, and Macy Brooks), 1 triple (Paige), and one dinger (Myka).

Batting Average leaders: K-Redd and Paige .571, Kaitlyn and Laila .500, and Aleksah .455.

We had 22 RBI with Abi (5), Kaitlyn (4), and EK (3) leading the way. K-Redd and Aleksah lead the team in runs scored with (5) and Laila added 4. Reagan lead the team in walks with 4 in 10 at bats.

Have yourself a day, Laila Bug! Miss Laila hit .500 on the day driving in 2 and scoring 4 runs. She also had a good day in the circle striking out 7 through 8 innings.

Next man up! Or next baller up! The batter in front of you gets intentionally walked to load the bases. A great strategy to put a force at every base. Until it backfires. Miss Abi stepped in the box and delivered a bases clearing double that one hopped the CF fence. Way to do your job, kid!

Miss Abi also had a day in the circle only allowing 5 hits, 1 BB, collecting 4 K’s (3KL), and holding batters to a .238 BAA.
