@ Carlos Melendez - Ahoy Carlos - buenos dias! The "stupid" comments your friends have made to you about pontoons in Puerto Rico are most likely based on the old idea of a pontoon boat. Because pontoons now have larger pontoons, better structure, and better materials they work well in protected bays, and inter coastal waterways. 1 - 3' waves are fine. A triple pontoon setup would be recommended though as this will give you the maximum ability to handle some rougher water. Although use in the open ocean is not recommended, you can use it close to shore on calm water with no threat of bad weather. For saltwater use you must have the pontoons painted with anti-fouling paint to prevent pitting of the aluminum.
