As many of you know, I am a huge fan of amino acid/nutritional therapy for mental health. This is a great introduction that can help guide on on the right path💗
PTSD and low GABA .....In this 2021 paper, Plasma gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels and posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms in trauma-exposed women: a preliminary report, the authors report that GABA, the brain's primary inhibitory or calming neurotransmitter, may play a key role in stress recovery:
“Dysregulation in GABA may be a neurobiological marker and/or potential treatment target for women with PTSD symptom profiles characterized by prominent dysphoria (a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with life).”
In my interview I share how to identify these neurotransmitter imbalances, and how to support them nutritionally, with the use of targeted individual amino acids GABA and tryptophan. If you are new to low GABA and low serotonin, the symptoms and how I use the amino acids, this is a great introduction for you.
If you are already familiar with neurotransmitter imbalances and using the amino acids, you’ll find the trauma connections enlightening and encouraging.
