Capitola Boat and Bait and our sister store Santa Cruz Boat Rentals have the only motorized ocean skiffs for rent on Monterey Bay, so if you want to get out there, you want to come here! Boat Rental:
$175/day or $50/hour
(Rod/Reel rentals available for only $15/day!)
-Be sure to PICK UP YOUR FISHING LICENSES BEFOREHAND and call for weekend or holiday reservations! (You can buy licenses on-line here: https://www.ca.wildlifelicense.com/InternetSales/ )

I want to share a moment of real pride from today.
A paddleboarder fell into the water and was struggling to get back on board and reach shore safely. One of our team members was watching the situation unfold in real time and was so excited by what they saw that they immediately shared it with me.
Rocco responded without hesitation — he got a boat and went out to help. His quick thinking and calm actions made all the difference.
Rocco, thank you. At only 17, you showed maturity, courage, and genuine care for someone in need. We are truly grateful for the young man you are.
I also want to recognize Isaiah for the solid camera work during the incident. Even with a few off-center moments, the footage captured what mattered. Great job.
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Thank you both.

First, from the bottom of our hearts — thank you. To everyone who has already donated, shared, or sent words of encouragement for Jojo: you have made a real difference. We are so grateful.
We just received the full estimates for the shower installation, plumbing work, and the shower kit itself. The total came in significantly higher than we expected. We are now looking at $7,000 to complete his bathroom and give him a safe, functional space.
We’re kindly asking for a bit more help — whether through a donation of any size or by sharing this GoFundMe so it can reach more people who might be able to support Jojo. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer.
I’ve attached the estimate letters for the shower kit, plumbing, and installation so you can see the details for yourself.

🦀 The countdown to Nov. 7 is officially ON! Mark your calendars because the 2026-2027 recreational Dungeness crab season is right around the corner.
Before you drop your lines, make sure you’re up to speed on this season’s rules:
🔹 Bag Limit: 10 crabs per day.
🔹 Minimum Size: 5 ¾ inches (measured by the carapace).
🔹 Gear Rules: Traditional traps require a recreational crab trap validation. No validation is needed if you are using hoop nets or crab loop traps!
⚠️ Stay Alert: Keep a close eye out for CDFW updates regarding whale entanglement risks and potential trap restrictions before heading out.
