ANOTHER AIRPORT INVITATIONAL IN THE BOOKS. ✈️⚽️

A great Saturday of soccer in Carleton as we hosted our annual six-team Airport Boys Soccer Invitational!

A huge thank you to the five visiting programs that made the trip to Carleton and spent their Saturday competing with us. We appreciate the players, coaches, families, officials and everyone who helped make the day possible.

Days like this are about more than results, it’s an opportunity to bring different programs together, compete, and create a great environment for high school soccer

WHAT A WAY TO OPEN AT HOME! ✈️⚽️🔥

The Jets put on a show in their home opener!

Our Airport Middle School Co-Ed Soccer Team welcomed Ypsilanti Lincoln to Carleton and came out firing, finding the back of the net EIGHT TIMES on the way to an impressive 8-3 victory over the Railsplitters!

And what a start for Coach Emily Begeman, who kicks off her campaign at the helm with a convincing win in front of the home crowd!

A ton of energy, plenty of goals, and a great night for our young Jets as they continue building the future of Airport Soccer.

ONE OF THOSE PROUD COACHING MOMENTS🥹

As coaches, we spend so much time focused on the season in front of us that sometimes you have to look back and appreciate what former players are doing after they leave your program.

These four graduated from Airport just a few months ago, and now they’re already competing and making an impact at the college level.

Payton Toth | Huntington University
Four starts, 3 goals and 2 assists, including the game-winner against Lawrence Tech last night.

Nolan Ortega | University Michigan-Dearborn
Already getting on the scoresheet, scoring the opening goal in yesterday’s win over Manchester.

Nolan Sanders | Madonna University
One of only a few freshmen on a varsity roster filled with experienced players and international talent from Brazil, Germany and Japan. He’s already appeared in 3 games and is earning quality minutes on a top WHAC conference side.

Olivia Bucki | Tiffin University
Gaining valuable experience, finding her form and continuing to develop while competing at the NCAA Division II level school in the GMAC.

Kelly Rodak | Ferris State University
2025 Airport graduate now entering her sophomore year at NCAA Division II Ferris State. Kelly continues to develop and represent Airport in one of the region’s established DII programs competing in the GLIAC.

Wins and championships are always special, but watching players you coached earn opportunities beyond high school and seeing them take advantage of those opportunities is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.

They all took different paths to get there, and their journeys are only beginning.

Proud of these five Jets. Keep going. ✈️🥹💪🏽

FINAL FROM CARLETON. ✈️

The boys fall on the wrong side of the scoresheet again.

We’re young, and I’ll always give our guys grace but being young doesn’t change our standards and I appreciate our response in the 2nd half.

Scoreline doesn’t accurately reflect the effort put in, Adam Ortega and Wyatt Sanders created some really good opportunities going forward, we probably should have had a couple more. We also had moments defensively that we need to clean up. That’s part of becoming a more complete team.

Our effort. Our communication. Our discipline. Our decision-making. Our response to adversity. Our commitment to doing our job for the guy next to us. Those are controllables, and those are non-negotiable.

We’re going to continue holding ourselves accountable to the standard we’re building every day. The little details eventually become big results.

Control the controllables. Hold the standard. Keep building. ✈️⚽️

Credit to Jefferson and always good seeing our friends Bobby Smith, Doug Link and Dave Vallie.

THE PROCESS CONTINUES. ✈️

This is a young team finding its identity together. There will be growing pains, but there’s also a group of boys putting in the work every day, gaining valuable experience and learning what it takes to compete for a full 80 minutes.

We came out fearless tonight, scoring inside the opening 30 seconds and playing Milan level through the first 20 minutes. From there, the game got away from us.

With a limited rotation, we’re learning how to become an 80 min team and how to pace ourselves, stay organized when we’re tired, remain composed under pressure, and defend together for extended stretches.

Tonight was another lesson in that process. When we dropped into a lower block, we invited too much sustained pressure into our half and weren’t disciplined enough collectively to make that shape successful. Those are things that only improve through experience, repetition and competing in these moments.

We’re young. We’re learning. We’re going to keep showing up and building.

Thank you to everyone continuing to support
