The "One Bowl More: Making Beverages in Early America" Punch Tasting Event takes place this Friday, June 12, 2026, inside the Historic Heishman's Mill in Carlisle, PA.Event
Overview :The event is an immersive, 21+ historical tasting experience presented by the Friends of Historic Heishman's Mill as part of the America250PA Cumberland County celebrations. Tony Shahan, an 18th-century historian and owner of Flavors of History, will lead the presentation in full period costume.
What to Expect, Guided Tasting: Guests will sample five authentic, 18th-century alcoholic drinks and punches. Early tax records reveal that Heishman/Diller's Mill once housed two on-site stills, utilizing local grains to distill potent spirits before it became a flour mill. Tony will detail the specific types of stills that operated right where attendees are sitting.
Scenic Gathering: After the indoor presentation, guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounding scenery along the Conodoguinet Creek, sit, and converse with other attendees.
Schedule, Pricing, and Tickets Seating Times: Individual seatings are scheduled for 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. Ticket Cost: Tickets are $35 per person (processed as a goodwill donation). All proceeds go directly toward the restoration and preservation of the historic mill.

Watch your step! Turtles laying eggs right on the trail. This is on the east side right by the water's edge, just south of the boardwalk through the wetlands. Not a great choice for a nesting place....
