Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s Claim Victory Over Sage Creek Varsity Bobcats

Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s were victorious against Sage Creek Varsity Bobcats 7-3 on Tuesday.
Varsity Lancer’s opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s first got on the board when Gavin Joyce singled, scoring one run.
Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to right field by Liam Stigers.
Three more Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 7-1. Joyce hit a solo home run to center field, Stigers tripled, scoring one run, and Cameron Horner lined out, scoring one run.
Rob Bering earned the win for Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s. The left-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking four. Josh Schutz took the loss for Sage Creek Varsity Bobcats. The starting pitcher went five innings, surrendering seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking none. Will Millett threw one inning of no-run ball for Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s in relief. The left-handed pitcher gave up two hits, striking out three and walking one.
Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s accumulated nine hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Judah Bentley led Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s with three hits in four at bats. Stigers, Joyce, and Bentley each drove in two runs for Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s. Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s turned one double play in the game. Carlsbad Varsity Lancer’s were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Brody Berson made the most plays with 12.
