Well here’s to me! I’m 44 today. We just got back from vacation and I was so busy doing all the things you do when you arrive home that I completely forgot it was even my birthday today until I received a happy birthday text.
I am so so so grateful!

This is me. Completely unfiltered. With just a touch of blush on. My 44th birthday is just around the corner and there’s just something about allowing myself to age completely natural that I’m loving.
In the beginning years of my 40’s it hit me that I wasn’t a young lady anymore and it freaked me out. I went overboard trying to stop the aging process with dyes, fillers, Botox, all the lasers and latest greatest things that were available to keep me youthful.
It’s been months and months and months since I attempted to stop the aging process. I’ve gone completely natural. Sure some may say I’ve aged drastically since my last post but to me I’m loving my slightly more matured look.
There’s so much beauty to me in exercising, cooking delicious meals, meditation, journaling, being with my family and allowing myself to age well in a healthy and natural way.

What REAL self-love means to me.
Real self love is hard. Very hard.
It isn’t pretty, it’s not comfortable and it doesn’t feel good in the moment. It’s the hardest yet most rewarding thing you can do for yourself.
Here it is:
Calling yourself out on your own BS and toxic behaviour in order to grow.
Setting boundaries and not lowering them for anyone because you know your worth.
Never blaming or complaining because you are in control of your life.
Being true to who you are in every situation because you are good enough.
Saying no without hesitation because you value your time and energy.
Staying true to your values because you respect yourself.
Taking care of your health so you can show up as your best self!

Does this sound familiar…
“I’ve been going to the gym on my own for months but I don’t see results.”
Let me tell you one reason why!
In order to see physical results you must push past the point of difficulty. So the next time you’re working through your set and things are starting to get tough, you keep going. When you feel like you can’t do one more repetition, do two more.
So instead of putting the weights down because you feel like you can’t go anymore, pause for a second with the weights, then push yourself for one more. It’s damn hard and you’re shaking and you may be grunting and don’t look so cute but that’s how you get results. Then do it one more time just like that.
So the next time you ask yourself “why don’t I see results?” It’s because you left your results behind on the last couple reps you didn’t do.
Now when training like this it’s important you’re with a professional trainer who can guide you and help you stay safe in the gym.
Get after it!

I hear so often one of the main reasons people give up on exercise is because the results don’t come quick enough.
One of the main reasons people start to exercise is to aesthetically look different. So they buy the gym membership, get the gym outfits, buy some equipment and go all in. After a couple hard sessions they see no physical changes in the mirror then give up. Now left feeling like a failure because they quit yet again and out a few hundred dollars from buying all the gym stuff.
Anytime. I mean anytime someone is starting to exercise simply for aesthetics, you will fail. Because those lean toned muscles take months and months and months of work.
So the next time you’re looking for a change, focus on how you feel immediately after a workout. Did you feel energized, happy, refreshed? Now do it again tomorrow and strive for that feeling alone. Soon enough other results will take place. You will begin to sleep better and maybe start to feel stronger.
So before you start your next exercise program, take note in the immediate results on how you feel after your workout instead of how you look.
The way you feel will begin to change right away, the way you look will come later.

Being in the fitness industry can be tough on you. Personally I find myself always striving to be better than I ever was. I want to be stronger, faster, better body composition and everything better than I was.
Yet I fall into seasons where working on my fitness isn’t always my priority. Either life brings me down and I fall into a slump or my kids divert my fitness stride.
It’s taken me almost a year to find my stride again. At one point in the past year I suffered from anxiety, depression and health concerns. I was on antidepressants and other medications that caused weight gain, skin conditions and mood swings. My fitness really suffered.
I knew I had to make some changes if I wanted to get out of this low place I was in. I first hired a very knowledgeable strength coach to keep me accountable and push me past my limits. I got my health concerns under control and stopped all my medications.
I started to schedule my week so my workouts are one of my must haves. I started meditating before bed, which has been a game changer for my sleep! I go for regular skin treatments and changed my food sources to mostly eat from my garden, CSA and local farmer (except for lunches). For lunches I do a meal prep by
It’s been about a month now where I’m finally feeling like myself. I love my workouts, I can feel myself getting stronger, I have more energy and I have the desire to put the effort into mundane things like cooking and keeping my house in order.

These two photos are both me.
I had never been into exercise in my life up until I had my second baby. The only reason I had started exercising was because I noticed I was gaining more and more weight as I got older and I felt tired ALL the time. I wanted a quick fix to my fatigue but my doctor advised I start exercising. I gave her a confused look and told her I didn’t know how to do that. Nor do I want to put myself through that awful pain. After some convincing I threw in the towel and started working with a trainer.
I kicked and screamed for many weeks when I first began working out. I hated how painful my muscles were for days after a workout. There were days I barely could walk. It was miserable.
I knew if I wanted to feel better and have enough energy for my kids I had to keep going.
Having a trainer was a game changer for me. All I had to do was show up and the workout was there for me.
I stayed consistent and eventually and very slowly I started to enjoy my workouts. The pain subsided and my mindset changed about exercise. Exercise was no longer a negative chore for me, it became something I did because I loved my body and wanted to look after it.

Oh how I love fitness! I love everything about fitness and what it means to me!
About 5 years ago that word fitness was something I tried to avoid in all areas in my life. Why? Because fitness to me was something negative. It hurt, I sucked at it, I looked ridiculous doing it and it meant failure to me.
NOW! Now fitness is everything positive to me! It means I get time work on my strength, my flexibility, my speed, my body, everything all me!
I call the shots in all areas of my fitness. When I’m not so into working out, I take it slow, when I’m feeling the adrenaline moving through my veins, I’ll kill a workout and be proud of myself for days.
I’m the center of my own life and fitness is right there with me!
I love it!
