If you have a child who will be between 8th-12th grade in the 2026-2027 school year who is interested in joining the high school swim team, they MUST attend the Swim 101 program this summer at the high school Natatorium. The U.S. State Department is urging Americans to shelter in place in certain areas of Mexico after a large-scale military operation led to the loss of life of a high-ranking organized crimes leader.

The advisory includes Jalisco and Tamaulipas, along with parts of Michoacán, Nuevo León, and Guerrero. Officials specifically pointed to Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, Guadalajara, and Reynosa, citing ongoing security operations, roadblocks, and criminal activity.

Air travel has been disrupted as a result. Air Canada temporarily paused flights to Puerto Vallarta, while United and Alaska canceled service Sunday. Delta and American also issued travel alerts for Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara.

Mexican authorities confirmed the operation occurred in Tapalpa, Jalisco. According to officials, seven alleged members of the organized crime group lost their lives, two others were taken into custody, and authorities seized weapons and armored vehicles.

The governor of Jalisco said confrontations continued after the operation, with vehicles set ablaze and roads blocked in some areas as officials worked to restore order.
