The most common, and probably the most important question we get as far as bike set-up goes, is how to set up your suspension properly.

These days, suspension components often come with a multitude of adjustments. Rebound, compression, air pressure—sometimes it feels like you need an engineering degree to decipher it all, but it’s really not that complicated. And once you figure out the best settings for your style, you’ll be greeted with more grip, speed, and fun.

The good news is that everything you need to know about setting up your suspension can be found in the Suspension Set-up section of Santa Cruz’s website (link in bio).

The quickest way to get personalized suspension set-up info for Santa Cruz’s current models is to use their Suspension Calculator at the top of the set-up page.

All you need to know is your riding weight (All kitted up with everything you wear or strap-on before you ride) the bike model, and build/suspension you have. Don’t worry, there’s a drop-down menu to help get you where you need to go.

When your info is in there, you’ll get a full run-down on the Air Pressure, Sag, and recommended Rebound settings for your specific model and suspension components.

Follow those settings and off you go. Over time you can fine-tune the settings to best fit your personal preference and riding style.
