DAY 285 🌊

A good day on the oars today.

I climbed out of the cabin before sunrise and spent the first hour rowing in absolutely pouring rain. By then I was soaked through, cold and feeling a bit miserable.

Then, just as quickly, everything changed.

The clouds cleared, the sun came out and by lunchtime it felt like a completely different day. This evening it's clouded over again, but thankfully the conditions have been pushing me in the right direction all day. ☀️🌧️
It actually turned out to be much quicker than it felt. I thought I'd been working hard for every mile, but I've just checked and I'm over 70 miles for the day.

I'll definitely take that.

I haven't made any water today because of the cloud cover. I wanted to give the batteries a bit of a rest, but tomorrow I'll need to get the water maker running, so hopefully the sun makes another appearance.

All in all, a straightforward day, good mileage and another step closer to Mauritius.

DAY 252 AT SEA

After more than 250 days alone at sea, this rowing boat has become my office.

Every locker has a purpose - from the solar panels keeping me powered, to the emergency life raft I hope I never have to use.

Some days are cold, wet, and utterly miserable. Waves crash in from the side, everything is soaked, and every mile feels earned.

But I’ve learned one thing out here:

Bad times pass.

Eventually the sea settles, the wind eases, the sun returns, and when it does, you appreciate it more than ever.

Another day down. Another day closer. 🌊
