Race Weekend Recaps

The weekend before the Skagit Nationals, we were back at Skagit Speedway in the 360 Sprint Car.

We qualified 3rd quick, started 7th in the heat and finished 5th, putting us into the A Feature. We started 2nd in the A and were running between 2nd–4th, racing hard for position, when the fuel line came apart on the high speed. That ended our night with a DNF, leaving us with a 13th-place finish on paper.

Then came the Skagit Nationals.

Thursday: Started 7th in the heat and was working our way forward, up to 5th, when the drag link bent and sent us into the wall. That ended our heat race with a DNF. The bent drag link also messed up the RR shock, but we didn’t catch the shock issue all weekend. That shock had basically no rebound, which left us fighting the car for grip the rest of the weekend.

Friday & Saturday: We just couldn’t get the car to work like we knew it should. Looking back, the RR shock issue explains a lot of what we were fighting all weekend.

Then we headed to Grays Harbor Raceway for a 360 Sprint Car race on Sunday. In qualifying, I found the bad RR shock and we changed it out for another set. The car immediately felt like a completely different race car.

Started 1st in the heat and got the job done, then went on to WIN the 360 Sprint Car A Feature! 🏆

Great night at Skagit Speedway with both cars! Both cars felt great all night.

In the Sportsman, we had a great Heat race, going from P2 to P1. Started the Main P4, jumped right to P3, and just couldn’t quite make anything happen after that. We had a few opportunities once we caught lap traffic, but a yellow came out and we ended up bringing it home P3.

The 410 was a little more eventful. Started P2 in the Heat and finished P3 after missing the start. In the Main, we caught a little luck on the start and moved up to P6 after one of the front row cars didn’t fire. Then P5 spun in Turn 1, putting us up to P5. We kept fighting all race and made a last-corner pass to finish P3!

This was an amazing weekend for our team. we are all so proud of Levi and how he drove. We will move this momentum to the 360 race this weekend at Skagit then Highlimit the week after!

A-Main: P5 → P5

What a night! The car was great all night. I could put it anywhere I wanted and felt super comfortable in the heat. We had a small issue pop up with just two laps to go in the A-Main, but we were able to finish the race and bring home our best finish of the year!

I felt really good in the main and think we had a little more left on the table with a few tweaks to the car and some different choices on the track. Either way, I’m really happy with how the car felt and the progress we’re making.

Great night at Grey’s Harbor Raceway! The car felt great all night, and we were able to work our way from P6 to P2 in the A-Main. A couple of better starts could’ve put us in an even better position, but we’re really happy with the pace we had.

We’ll carry the momentum into this weekend as we head back to Skagit Speedway for the 360!
