Professor Cris:
Student of the Month: Yohan

Student of the Month goes to someone I’m truly proud of. Yohan continues to impress me with how technical and skilled he has become. He has a great understanding of Jiu-Jitsu, and you can see his potential every time he steps on the mats.

I see a very bright future for him not only in Jiu Jitsu but in anything he sets his mind to. Keep working hard, Yohan. This is only the beginning!

Most Improved Student: Liam

Most Improved goes to someone who has genuinely surprised me with how quickly he has progressed. Liam has only been with our academy for a short time, yet he has learned at an incredible pace.

He seems to be a natural at everything we teach him but what stands out even more is his enthusiasm and willingness to learn. He comes ready to train, absorbs the techniques and continues getting better every class.

Great job, Liam! Keep it going!

Glory fades but legacy is eternal!

The mastery of an art takes countless hours, hours of practice, reflection and constantly searching for ways to perfect our craft. We visualize ourselves moving, expressing the art through our bodies, then dedicate ourselves to turning that vision into reality.

It takes patience, takes determination and above all, it takes the willingness to fail again and again without walking away.
Failure is part of the process, frustration is part of the process and growth is part of the process.

Those who choose to stay, continue learning and keep showing up will one day begin to see how the pieces of the puzzle begin to come together easier and easier.

Martial arts is not simply something we practice. With time it becomes a way of thinking, a way of carrying ourselves and ultimately a lifestyle.

We couldn’t be more proud of Isaac Avila

Not simply because he walked away with the win but because of everything he put into earning it. His work ethic is on another level. At times, we actually have to tell him to slow down. Whatever Isaac commits himself to, he gives it everything he has and constantly pushes himself toward perfection.

For his MMA debut, he trusted the process, trusted his coach and trusted the game plan. When it was time to perform, the results spoke for themselves.

Isaac stepped into the cage against a tough and talented striker. Being a well rounded mixed martial artist, he stayed composed on his feet and used his wrestling and Jiu Jitsu to attack the areas where we believed he had the biggest advantage. He came close to securing multiple submissions, but his opponent showed patience, toughness and heart, defending each attempt and continuing to fight until the end. Nothing but respect to his opponent and his team for coming ready to compete.

Most importantly, both fighters were able to walk out of the cage healthy, with nothing more than the bumps and bruises that come with competition. That will always matter more than any win or loss.

A huge thank you to the entire Ark Wave MMA team. Every training partner who pushed Isaac, every round, every drill and every hard day in the gym played a part in preparing him for this moment. This victory belongs to the team as much as it represents Isaac’s dedication.

Special thanks to our longtime friend and former fighter Pedro Gutierrez Jr. for being in Isaac’s corner alongside Ark Wave MMA head coach Crhis Michel San Martin. Having experienced people you trust in your corner makes all the difference.

FRIDAY is around corner. This isn’t just Isaac’s debut, it’s a reflection of our entire team.

Every student contributed to this camp. By pushing one another, encouraging one another and showing up day after day, everyone helped make this moment possible. The strongest teams are built when every member is committed to making the person next to them better.

We’re proud of Isaac and we’re just as proud of every teammate who helped him get here. One team, one mission.
