The countdown is on for our beginner friendly Women's Foundations Camp, happening this weekend in the Sugarloaf Bike Park. This 2-day camp is designed for women who are ready to build real skills and real confidence on the bike in a downhill environment, and is lead by professional mountain bike coach Annie Craig. 🚶 The 2026 Trailblaze Challenge Make-A-Wish Maine ceremony will be at the Outdoor Center on Saturday the 19th at 2 pm.

These folks will be completing 23.4 miles in the Maine Huts & Trails network 🥾

A successful adventure starts with preparation! 🌲 Before you head out, remember to know the rules, pack the essentials, consider the weather, and navigate appropriately. Our Outdoor Center ambassadors are always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations! 🚲

ℹ️ Know the rules: Check pet policies, parking, entry fees, waste removal, vehicle restrictions, seasonal closures, and more before you go. 🐶

🎒Pack the essentials: What you need depends on your adventure, but navigation, illumination, first aid, repair tools, fire, sun/bug protection, layers, food, water, signaling, and shelter are all worth considering. Your pack may be a f***y pack for a short walk around Moose Pond or a 30L pack for a longer trek to Burnt Mountain and back!

🥾Consider the weather: Maine weather can change quickly, especially in the mountains. Temperatures can drop significantly with elevation, and rain can arrive when you least expect it. Pack that extra layer or rain jacket! ☔

🧭Navigate appropriately: Know your route, carry a paper map in case of poor service, and consider a satellite GPS for more challenging adventures. Always check for trail closures and boundary zones before heading out.

📍 Don't forget to stop inside the Outdoor Center building! The lodge is open 7 days a week, from 7 am to 7 pm.

ℹ️ Inside, you will find bathrooms with showers, a water fountain, a wall of cubbies to leave a change of clothes inside, plenty of space to sit and enjoy lunch, a plethora of information from Kingfield to Rangeley, and trail recommendations curated by the Outdoor Center Ambassadors.

🎞 The Outdoor Center hosted The Maine Outdoor Film Festival last week, and we are still talking about it!

🍿 It was awesome seeing everyone cozy up with their snacks, blankets, and good company to enjoy this unique event

Time to gear up for the newest trails out of Stony Brook 🤘

🚲 Where are all the novices at?? Roaring Brook and Hobbs are a dream to ride! This short lollipop is a great option right off the parking lot, with great flow. You will enjoy some climbing, a beautiful bridge, a few berms, and kicker rocks when you're feeling spicy.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with this project, and a HUGE shout-out to the amazing trail crew team who make these beautiful new trails ‼️
