Sports Turf Company recently completed a series of athletic facility upgrades at Newton High School, Eastside High School, and Alcovy High School, delivering durable, high-performance playing surfaces designed to serve student-athletes for years to come.

As part of the improvements, all three stadiums received new high-performance AstroTurf synthetic turf systems, replacing the existing natural grass fields. Additional enhancements included a new Rekortan M synthetic track surface at Newton High School and dedicated discus and shot-put facilities at each campus.

These renovations represent a significant investment in the future of Newton County athletics, providing student-athletes with durable, reliable facilities that support competition, training, and year-round performance.

Sports Turf Company recently completed athletic facility renovations at Newton High School, Eastside High School and Alcovy High School, converting all three natural grass stadium fields to high-performance AstroTurf systems.

The project also included resurfacing Newton High School’s eight-lane track with Rekortan M synthetic surfacing and constructing new discus and shot-put areas at all three high schools.

From the fields to the track, these transformations were designed with safety, durability and performance in mind.

Construction is underway on the track renovation at Smiths Station High School, with Sports Turf Company completing a full reclamation to improve performance, durability and long-term functionality.

The project scope includes demolition of the existing track surface, milling and repaving of the asphalt base, construction of a new runway, installation of concrete curbs, a new javelin runway and installation of a new Rekortan BSS track surface.

✂️ Today, we officially celebrated the opening of the new Multi-Purpose Pavilion at Tift County High School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Designed as a flexible space for instruction, practices, training, performances and other activities, the pavilion will create new opportunities for students across a variety of programs. From athletics and fine arts to academic and extracurricular activities, this facility reflects our commitment to providing spaces where all students can learn, grow, connect and succeed.

We are grateful to the Board of Education, district and school leaders, community partners, contractors and everyone who helped bring this vision to life. We look forward to seeing the many ways our students will benefit from this investment for years to come!

Alcovy High School’s stadium field was transformed from natural grass to a high-performance artificial turf system featuring AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D Blend HD, a Brock shock pad and organic BrockFILL infill.
The renovation also included new discus and shot-put areas, completing an upgraded athletic facility for the Tigers.
