Carrollton Runners Club & Mid-Cities Running Crew This is the NEW page for the Carrollton Runner's Club! We have regularly-scheduled runs on Tuesday & Wednesday nights, and sometimes events on the weekend too!

We've merged with the Mid-Cities Running Crew and will be hosting events in Carrollton, Euless & in-between! We invite you to run or run/walk with us!

I have some sad news to share with the club. Last weekend, I learned that we lost one of our members, Peter Ackling. Peter passed away suddenly on August 19 at the age of 61. I don't know any further details regarding his passing.

Peter and his wife, Amy Polcari, were familiar faces at our CRC runs, and I last saw them both at our June Prediction Run.

Please keep Amy and their family in your thoughts. Peter will be missed by all of us at CRC.

We finally caught a little break from the Texas heat for Sunday’s CRC 1-Mile & 5K. After spending most of the summer feeling like we were racing on the surface of the sun, the slightly cooler temperatures were definitely appreciated!

On the downside, the ballfields and soccer fields at McInnish Park were packed, which meant plenty of cars on the park roads. And apparently the posted 15 mph speed limit was being interpreted by a few drivers as more of a friendly suggestion.

Fortunately, our runners did what CRC runners always do: kept their eyes open, kept moving, and got the miles done.

Thanks to everyone who came out and ran with us. We survived another Texas summer, and with any luck, October will bring cooler temperatures, lighter traffic, and maybe even something resembling actual running weather!

Well, things got off to a bit of a rocky start this morning for our September 5K Prediction Run. When we arrived to set up, we discovered that the restroom/concession building had been completely demolished, and in its place was a giant hole in the ground. The entire area was fenced off, so we had to scramble to find another nearby location for the start/finish.

As for the weather, when the sun was behind the clouds and you were facing into the breeze, the heat was almost bearable! It certainly was an improvement over the brutal temperatures we dealt with all summer.

Congratulations to Betsy Palmer, who was our female winner with her predicted time just 9.3 seconds off her actual finish time. Vijayan Nair was the male winner, finishing just 26.4 seconds from his predicted time.

Finally, a big thank you to Kuay Sullivan, who not only brought snacks, but also took an early start and then moved the turnaround cone back 16 paces to compensate for our new starting location thanks to the giant hole in the ground! 😄

Well, I guess it’s better late than never to finally post the photos from Sunday’s CRC 1-Mile & 5K!

We had a really great turnout, especially considering how freaking hot it was! 🥵☀️ Thanks to everyone who came out, ran, volunteered, and helped make the morning a success.

Do I even need to mention how hot it was this morning? It’s August in Texas. I think you can figure it out! 🥵☀️

Despite the heat, it didn’t deter our Carrollton runners, who showed up for the August Prediction 5K. Congratulations to our overall winner, Steve Russo, who finished just 4.4 seconds off his predicted time! And congratulations to our women’s winner, Kuay Sullivan, who missed her predicted time by only 1:33!

I’d also like to give a special thank you to Steve, who came to our rescue at 5:30 AM this morning. After we set up the turnaround cone, our car decided it wasn’t going anywhere. Steve came gave us a jump and got us back on the road with all of our race gear so that we were able to make it to the start. 🚗

And a big thank you to Ruben Saguil, who donated a portable battery starter so the next time our car battery decides to die, we’ll be prepared!

Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the Texas heat. We appreciate you!

July 1-Mile & 5K Runs

First, my apologies for taking so long to get Sunday's race photos posted. We also hosted a 48-hour race in Saginaw over the weekend, and I'm just now recovering from that event.

Now, back to the Carrollton Runners Club!

Congratulations to our overall 1-Mile winner, Eric Anderson, and our overall 5K winner, Jaydin Turner!

And an extra round of applause for Debbie Riedner, who decided one win wasn't enough and claimed the women's title in both the 1-Mile and the 5K. Nicely done, Debbie!

Thanks to everyone who came out, ran, volunteered, and cheered. I can't wait to see you all in August... when I'm sure we'll have much, much cooler temperatures. 😉

GOOD MORNING, JULY! ☀️🏃

The thermometer wasn't too intimidating when we got started this morning, but the humidity was already hard at work reminding us who's really in charge. By the finish, everyone had definitely earned that post-run drink!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for another great Carrollton Runners Club Prediction 5K. Congratulations to our overall winner, Ruben Arevalo, who finished just 6.2 seconds from his predicted time! On the women's side, Amie Goins claimed the win by finishing only 12.5 seconds from her prediction.

Great job to everyone who came out this morning. We hope to see you back at the starting line next month! 🎉🏅
