Safe Play certification. Did you know?

All certified tennis professional and USTA tournament directors/officials must complete Safe Play training and testing each year including a background check.

From the USTA "Safe Play is the USTA’s comprehensive athlete safety program consisting of education, screening, reporting tools and policies for appropriate conduct in tennis. The USTA works with the U.S. Center for SafeSport and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee to develop Safe Play policies, procedures and educational resources to support the USTA Safe Play program."

A day in the life of a tennis pro.

A typical day for a tennis pro can often last 12+ hours. Once the pro arrives at the courts it’s not all forehand and backhands, here is a list of the typical thing a pro at a club will do on a daily basis:

Arrive 8:00am………….and go!
Inspect facility
Check e-mail
Return phone calls
Pro shop sales
Pro shop inventory
Re-string racquets
Plan upcoming events
Update social media
Staff meetings
Court reservations
Budgeting
Capital projects management
Staff supervision
Staff training
Continuing education
Lesson billing
Court maintenance
Regrip frames
Ordering merchandise for pro shop
New member orientation

The pro is often ON the court between 5-8 hours per day and finishes the last lesson at 7 or 8pm.
