๐ŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and itโ€™s a cause thatโ€™s very close to my heart. I vividly remember the day my Momma called to tell me she had breast cancer. It was early days of cell phones and I stepped out of a college lecture to take her call. It was a defining moment, and Iโ€™m so grateful she fought through and has been cancer-free for over 20 years.

Her cancer was found during her annual mammogram. It was because of this screening that she is here today. Mammograms are essential.

I know Iโ€™m not alone in how this disease has affected my family. 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. It is as a staggering statistic and touches the lives of so many people.

This week, we celebrated Pink Out Week in my Vary-8 classes. We wear pink as a reminder to perform self-exams and schedule annual mammograms.

Weโ€™re also donating to my friend and breast cancer survivor, Natalie Tuman, and her foundation, which provides support for women undergoing treatment. The foundation helps with everyday tasks like housecleaning, laundry, meal prep and lawn care, allowing these amazing women to focus on their healing.

Creating an intro to strength training system... what are your road blocks to starting a strength training/workout routine?

I used to get LASER focused on nutrition before a beach trip or a specific event. I was ON IT... until the event was over or the vacation hit. And then the motivation was lost. I would slip back into old habits... which weren't terrible, but over time I ended up right back where I started. Then enter the changes that come with hormones and life and stress in your 40s. Ooooooffff!

BUT... with two big trips and one small anniversary trip under my belt this summer... I'm happy to say my FOUNDATION is strong. I was able to have fun, indulge within reason and emerge on the other side motivated, feeling amazing and still on track!

It's like the Foundation of your house. If it isn't rock-solid, no amount of paint or curtains or stuff can make it stable. So it goes with your nutritional foundation.

And it is probably not what you expect.
