TEN YEARS RUNNING!!! FLAT OUT AMAZINGNESS!!!! The Downtown Cartersville 5K (& 1K Fun Run) in Support of Backpack Buddies!!! Over 1,100 strong turning out for another fantastic morning pounding the streets in one of the greatest towns in the South! Tremendous Participants, Sponsors, and Volunteers in support of the community to make sure no kids goes home hungry! This race has grown from 179 in year 1 to well over 1,000 annually and it is an ABSOLUTE pleasure for the crew from Wire2Wire Running to be a part of it! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: As a reminder, the 10th. Annual running of the Downtown Cartersville 5K to benefit BackPack Buddies for all Bartow County and City of Cartersville Schools, will be held this coming Saturday morning August 29th 2026. Many surface streets in and around the Summer Hill Neighborhood will be temporarily closed for 1 hour between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM to allow for the race to take place. The Cartersville Police Department advises that Carter Street will be open as an exit point for the Summer Hill Neighborhood during race time between 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM. Please be on the lookout for runners during that time as this event raises money for an outstanding cause in fighting hunger with kids in our local community!
