Did you know Cary is home to rare gravel prairie preserves filled with native plants and hidden natural treasures? 🌾

Join the Cary Prairie Stewards for Collecting Seeds, Growing Prairies and learn why volunteers collect native seeds, which species they focus on and how to identify and gather seeds responsibly. You’ll also discover how this hands-on work helps protect and restore some of Cary’s most special natural areas, and how you can get involved.

One ticket just became available for our sold-out Senior Day Trip, Friends in Low Places, on Tuesday, September 15!

Enjoy a self-pay lunch followed by a lively performance at the Marriott Theatre featuring Brandon Bennett and the hit songs of Garth Brooks, including “Friends in Low Places,” “The Dance” and “Shameless.” Transportation is provided by Park District bus.

What happens when robotics meets the animal kingdom? 🤖🐊 Snapping alligators and crawling spiders, of course!

In Snapology’s Creature Creator Robotics program, kids ages 7-10 will build motorized animals and use beginner-friendly pseudo-coding to program their behaviors with motion and tilt sensors. It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore zoology, technology and engineering all in one class.

Little Sprouts starts tomorrow, and there is still time to register your little learner! 🌱

Designed for children who are age 3 by October 1, Little Sprouts helps children build independence in a small, supportive setting. Through art, music, circle time, dramatic play and other hands-on activities, children develop physical, creative, cognitive and social-emotional skills while learning and having fun.

Classes meet Wednesdays, September 9-October 14, from 9:15-11:00 a.m. at the Community Center.

Maybe your child loves football but isn’t ready for tackling. Or maybe the helmets, shoulder pads and all that equipment are simply not their thing. Flag Football Skills offers a great way to learn and enjoy the game without gearing up for tackle football! 🏈

Players ages 6-12 will practice receiving, rushing, blocking, defense, positions and game fundamentals. Each class ends with a scrimmage, and everyone gets a chance to play receiver or running back. No equipment is needed.

Classes meet Fridays, September 18-October 23, at Lions Park:

Ages 6-8 | 5:00-5:45 p.m.
Ages 9-12 | 5:45-6:45 p.m.

Help your child go from playing games to learning how to create them!

Let’s Code It! introduces ages 8-13 to computer science using Scratch, a beginner-friendly, block-based programming system developed by the MIT Media Lab. Students will explore video game design, loops, variables and other coding concepts while strengthening creativity, teamwork, confidence and problem-solving skills.

Classes meet Thursdays, September 17-October 22, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
