A work of art is never created in a single brushstroke. 🩰

It is built through hundreds of thoughtful details, each one bringing the larger picture into focus.

This week, Anaïs Chalendard joined us at IBA, bringing her extraordinary attention to precision, intricate footwork, and the subtle qualities of style that distinguish movement from true artistry.

Her passion for ballet is a reminder that the most meaningful training reaches beyond the studio. It shapes how we observe, listen, work, and ultimately live.

Meanwhile, our Nutcracker production gained a few more brushstrokes of its own. Rehearsals continued, costumes were fitted, and suddenly the stage felt a little closer.

Every correction, every repetition, every fitting has a purpose.

We are not simply preparing a performance. We are developing artists through the process of creating one.

And what a wonderful process it is.

A Fresh Perspective. A Shared Purpose.

What a wonderful few days with Anaïs Chalendard!

Our students have been embracing her thoughtful direction, enjoying every class, and finding new connections in their training.

At IBA, we believe that learning is strengthened through different perspectives. Sometimes, the very same correction delivered in a new way can unlock a deeper understanding.

Bringing exceptional educators into our studios is part of our commitment to giving students the richest training experience possible.

We’re delighted to have Anaïs sharing her knowledge and artistry with our dancers. The work continues, and everything is coming together beautifully!

Welcoming Back Anaïs Chalendard | October 12–17

We are delighted to welcome back the wonderful Anaïs Chalendard to International Ballet Academy for another week of training, coaching, and artistic exploration with our students!

A former Principal Dancer with Boston Ballet, Anaïs has enjoyed an extraordinary international career, performing leading roles with some of the world’s most respected ballet companies. Today, she shares that wealth of experience as an international guest teacher, coach at the ADC-IBC Finals, and through her school, UNBLANCHE Ballet in Japan, where she develops the curriculum.

At IBA, we believe that exceptional training comes not only from what students learn, but also from the opportunity to learn directly from accomplished artists like Anaïs, whose professional experience, knowledge, and perspective bring invaluable depth to their education.

Bringing accomplished artists and educators into our studios is an essential part of our philosophy. Different perspectives, fresh insights, and the knowledge that comes from years of performing at the highest professional level help our dancers broaden their understanding of ballet, challenge their habits, and continue developing their own artistic voices.

We want our students to experience ballet through the eyes of those who have truly lived it — artists who understand the discipline, demands, and beauty of this profession firsthand.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Anaïs share her knowledge, artistry, and generosity with our dancers once again.

Welcome back to IBA, Anaïs! 🤍

IT’S FOUETTÉ FRIDAY! 🔄🩰

Some Fridays are made for slowing down.
Ours? Apparently, for spinning!

A little glimpse into the hard work our PPD A ladies have been putting in!

Our dancers continue to challenge themselves, refining the details that transform a difficult technical exercise into something that looks effortless.

Because the goal isn’t simply to turn more. It’s to turn better—with intention, control, and rhythm.

And as with everything in ballet, it’s the thoughtful repetition, the attention to detail, and the determination to improve that make all the difference.

Beautiful work, ladies! The progress is in the details. ✨

A few seconds of highlights. A whole week of working for them.

Week five at International Ballet Academy brought noticeable progress and a clearer understanding of the goals ahead.

We love the grind: listening closely, trying thoughtfully, making an adjustment, and going again. Thoughtful repetition gives each attempt a purpose—and we’re seeing that work take shape.

Serious focus, shared laughs, and plenty of “one more time.”

If you’re serious about pursuing a professional ballet career and still looking for a place to train, reach out and share some footage of your dancing. We’d love to meet you, hear about your goals, and explore whether IBA could be the right fit.

It’s Friday. We’re having fondue.

Not that kind 😉

Today’s menu: placement, coordination, control, musicality, épaulement—and a healthy serving of details.

What looks like one beautiful fondu is built from countless details, and our PPD dancers are learning that refinement comes from giving those details their full attention.

Ballet asks for patience. It asks for repetition. And it asks dancers to care about the things an audience may never consciously notice—but will absolutely feel.

That’s where the difference is made.

Welcome to Fondue Friday at International Ballet Academy.

Know a dancer who appreciates the details? Share this with them.

A little more focused.
A little more confident.
A little more understanding of what is being asked.

And, thankfully, a little less surprised when we ask for it again. 😉

That was this week.

The beginning of a season is about more than learning combinations. It’s about learning the culture of the studio: how we work, how we listen, how we respond to corrections, and how much responsibility each dancer brings to their own progress.

We care deeply about creating a place that feels joyful and human. There will be laughter, personality, and plenty of moments when we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

The work, however, we take very seriously.

We believe dancers thrive when expectations are clear—and when they begin to understand that their progress belongs to them, too.

That balance—warmth and accountability, freedom and discipline, personality and professionalism—is something we work toward every day.

This week, everyone moved a little closer to the same page.

Which is good… because once we’re all there, we can really start pushing. 🤍
