“Salmo trutta” at its absolute finest, beast, tank, beauty, UNIT.
32.5” 21”AROUND estimated 15-16lbs, unreal. Congratulations Darrin Nielsen, a fish like this is unheard of. Hooking a fish like this and seeing it is one thing, but we landed it! We went on a wild ride for half of a mile down the river with this fish on. It bulldogged us the whole time and could have easily beaten us at any moment. We stayed right on top of it through all of the white water and rocks and grass and eventually the fish finally gave up. I called over all of the other boats so they could share in this special moment that will most likely never happen again in my life as a career guide. Truly blessed.

Nothing gets a guide and anglers heart pumping like watching a true North Platte River monster gulp down your streamer 10 feet off the boat. Billy Burton, Mark, and Jerry from Split Rock Ranches have been big fish magnets over the years. This fish was exceptional, she taped out at 28” and we estimated her at around 10lbs. We had some active marines in town doing some training with . All of us had an absolute blast taking them down the North Platte River today and catching some fish! Thank you to all the guides for helping out and making it a great experience for our men in uniform. 🇺🇸
