THE SUMMER SHOWCASE WASN’T JUST OPEN GYM— WYOMING’S BEST REALLY PULLED UP 😤🏀

Teams from across the state came through for meaningful summer reps against some of the toughest competition Wyoming has to offer.

No empty gyms.
No running through cones for Instagram.
No cooking your little cousin in the driveway and calling it a mixtape. 😭

Real teams.
Real pressure.
Real buckets.

Some players showed out.
Some introduced themselves.
Everybody left better. 💯

And if you thought last summer was crazy…
We’re bringing THREE tournaments to Wyoming next year. 👀

The Spring Showcase.
The Summer Showcase 2.0.
And one more that we’re keeping classified for now… 🤫

Let’s just say the third one might bring a little more smoke than Wyoming is used to.

SHOUTOUT TO THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN MAKE ONE CALL AND HAVE HALF THE GYM READY TO FILE AN APPEAL. 😭🏀

This one is for every official out there.

The long nights.
The weekend travel.
The nonstop running.
The coaches working the sideline.
The parents yelling from Row 12.
The players saying, “Come on, ref!” after committing a felony in the paint. 😂

Being a referee requires knowledge, patience and some seriously thick skin—but without officials, there is no game.

Officiating is also a legitimate career opportunity, a way to earn money and one of the best ways to stay involved with basketball long after your playing days end. Great officials protect players, teach the game and help shape Wyoming basketball.

We appreciate every referee who continues showing up—and especially the Casper College men’s basketball team for putting on the stripes and helping at last year’s WyoHoops Summer Showcase. 💯

BREAKOUT FRESHMAN: MELO SMITH HAS BEEN COOKING 16U DEFENDERS SO LONG, WE FORGOT BRO WAS STILL IN JR HIGH 🤣💯🏀

Meet Melo Smith—one of the most dangerous guards entering Wyoming’s freshman class of 2026.

Lightning-fast first step. 🌩

Elite crossover. 🏃‍♂️

Knockdown jumper. 🏀

And a handle that already has defenders reaching for stuff that ain’t there. 🫳💨

Give him space? Three.

Press up? Gone.

Send help? Melo already found the open man.

Bro loves getting to that midi, but he isn’t out there dribbling just to make a mixtape.

He uses his handle and basketball IQ to move the defense, create open buckets and put his teammates in position to eat too.

We only got a limited sample at the Summer Showcase, where he played for Wyoming Premier—but he really got busy against some of Wyoming’s elite 16U competition.

That’s when we realized something…

THIS KID IS ONLY AN 8th GRADER?! 😭

Melo has been showing up and hooping everywhere for so long that we thought bro had already filed taxes.

It makes sense, though. He grew up battling two older hooping brothers in the driveway. Iron sharpens iron—and apparently older brothers sharpen crossovers. 😂

Quick. Skilled. Confident. Unselfish.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: TAHNEE ROBINSON DIDN’T WAIT FOR SOMEBODY TO OPEN THE DOOR—HOME GIRL KICKED THAT MF OFF THE HINGES. 😤🚪

Before the WNBA.
Before playing professionally overseas.
Before rewriting Nevada’s record books…

Tahnee was at Lander Valley giving the entire state buckets.

She finished high school with 2,303 career points, earned McDonald’s All-American recognition and led Lander to the 2006 Class 3A state championship. 🏆

2,303 points?!

Sis didn’t fill up the stat sheet—she used the whole printer cartridge. 😭

She signed with Wyoming, but her journey changed when she became a mother at 19. Her path to professional basketball suddenly looked different, but Tahnee never stopped woth the grind! 💯

She continued her career at Sheridan College while balancing school, motherhood and basketball. Thats real GOAT ish! 🐐

Then home girl respawned feeling like ’08 Kobe. 🎮🐍

Tahnee averaged nearly 30 POINTS PER GAME, led all of junior college basketball in scoring and carried Sheridan College to its first national tournament appearance in school history!

That wasn’t simply a comeback.

That was a hostile takeover. 🚨

Then she took her talents to Nevada:

🔥 22.1 PPG as a senior
🔥 9th nationally in scoring
🔥 1,000+ points in only two seasons
🔥 WAC Newcomer of the Year
🔥 Two-time First-Team All-WAC
🔥 Sullivan Award finalist

In 2011, Phoenix selected Tahnee with the 31st pick in the WNBA Draft, making her the first enrolled Native American woman drafted into the league!!! That's a HUGE deal!

State champion. National scoring leader. Division I star. WNBA draft pick. Professional hooper. Mother. Wyoming legend.

Tahnee didn’t let a different road decide her destination. She kicked that door off the hinges—and held it open for every Native and Wyoming hooper coming behind her. 💯 Shout put to the pioneer!

IS PAISLEY BLACKBURN NOT UP NEXT?! 👀🔥 BECAUSE SHE ALREADY BEEN HER!

She might be listed at 5’3” but her game is about as tall as it gets!

Sis does not care. 💀

Paisley has been running the Wyoming Indian offense since her freshman year, and at this point she doesn’t just play point guard… She got the whole game on lock fr. 🎮

As a sophomore:

🔥 10.4 PPG
🎯 2.8 APG
🥷 2.8 SPG
🏆 All-State
🏆 All-Conference
🥈 2A State Runner-Up

But the numbers don’t even explain how nasty she really is to watch though.

As a freshman, Paisley scored all 14 of her points in the second half of the state semifinal and helped send Wyoming Indian to the championship with that Kyrie handle and total pace control! She ain’t the type to turn that john over!

Apparently sis spent the first half downloading the defense. 😭

Then she opened the 2026 state tournament against Big Horn with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Again… ELEVEN REBOUNDS. AT 5'3".

Home girl was down there repossessing basketballs. Somebody check the lost-and-found because the bigs left without their boards. 💀

She also gave Big Piney 19, earned a spot in the Native All-Star Game, and proudly represented the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho communities.

Silky handle.
Crazy vision.
Active hands.
Absolutely zero fear.

She might be 5'3", but her game walks into the gym about 6'8" with work boots on.

Now Paisley enters her junior season as one of the coldest floor generals in Wyoming 2A.

The WyoHoops Summer Showcase was CRAZY!

It was LOUD!

Packed sidelines. Tough buckets. Bodies hitting the floor. Benches losing their minds and cosches joining! Teams from across Wyoming pulling up ready to prove something.

No easy games.
No quiet moments.
No shortage of smoke. 😭

These teams gave us an entire weekend of competition, memories and quality summer reps—and showed exactly what happens when Wyoming hoopers finally get a stage of their own.

Last June was the beginning.

What comes next is going to be even louder. 👀

JOSIAH COLEMAN HAD NINE DUNKS IN ONE GAME… COACHES, DO WE NEED TO SAY IT LOUDER?! 😭🚨🏀

Not nine points.
Not nine dunk attempts.

NINE. DUNKS.

In about 30 minutes of basketball. Bro was treating a varsity game like laps at the rec. Down and back. Catch one. Turn around. Do it again. 😭

A few were posters. 📸
A few were business decisions.

You could see the help defense calculate the risk and decide, “You know what… we’ll get those two back.” 💀

And if you know Josiah, none of this is breaking news.

Bro been trying to remove rims from Wyoming gyms since about eighth grade. The rest of us grew a little. Josiah unlocked contact dunks. 🎮🔥

But don’t let the bounce distract you—he can HOOP. Get downhill. Finish through traffic. Knock down shots. And turn one possession into a whole gym standing up.

We caught up with the Natrona County hooper at the WyoHoops Summer Showcase. 🎤

After a game like that, we had to give him the mic. The rim had already heard enough from him. 😭

And Wyoming… Natrona doesn’t just look good on the football field this year.

That basketball squad is DANGEROUS. 👀🐎

Josiah and those boys are coming back with something to say.

Y’ALL ASKED FOR IT, SO WE BUILT IT..
THEN YOU GAVE THE WHOLE STATE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT. 😤🏀🔥

The WyoHoops Summer Showcase had buckets, bounce, floor burns, double-OT drama… and a handshake line that almost needed its own referee. 😭👀

But when the smoke cleared, these hoopers had the hardware:

But this weekend went way beyond who held a trophy.

Everybody pulled up and got meaningful summer reps. Some left with hardware. Some left with giveaways thanks to DICK’S Sporting Goods in Casper. 🎁

Everybody left with memories, new friends, and something they learned that weekend they’ll carry with them. About their game. Their team. Themselves.

That’s why we did it.

You wanted competition. You wanted exposure. You wanted a weekend where Wyoming hoopers could line it up and see who’s really like that.

We made it happen.
YOU made it worth doing again. 💯

Was it run perfectly? Nah.
Was there a missed call? I’m sure somebody’s dad still has the replay paused on his phone. 😭
Did Natrona and Central leave with a little beef? 👀

We’ll see what that looks like this season. Bring popcorn. 🍿

We heard the feedback. We’re tightening things up. And when y’all asked if we’d do one again…

Unfortunately, we won’t be doing one.

BREAKOUT FRESHMAN: MAIBRI SCHWAN PULLED UP TO THE SUMMER SHOWCASE AS AN EIGHTH GRADER AND STARTED SCRAPPING WITH VARSITY GIRLS. 😭🐾🏀

No fear. No freshman disclaimer. No asking the big schools to take it easy.

Maibri came with her squad to get buckets.

✅ Multi-Sport athlete
✅ Got a little dog in her

And if you didn’t know, she got wheels!🔥 At the 2026 Big Horn Conference Track Meet, she finished 2nd overall in the 100-meter hurdles hoppin over them things like defenders. 😭

She already helped Thermopolis capture a Big Horn Conference championship in eighth grade. Now No. 12 enters high school with a complete skill set and enough grit to compete with anybody in the gym.

She may be from a smaller school, but her expectations are big! 💯

Maibri Schwan is officially one of our Breakout Freshmen to watch in Wyoming’s Class of 2030. 👀🔥

When the close-out has no sense of urgency, Carli the type to charge you the full three-point late fee. 💸

She’s a three-year varsity player for Natrona with experience playing for Future Legends, Wyoming Select and 24MD Team Daum on the UA circuit the last couple summers.

Now schools like Rocky Mountain College and Napa Valley College are coming with offers, and the résumé explains why. 💯

Elite shooter. Experienced two-way guard. Can handle the ball. 4.0 GPA. 27 ACT.

Apparently giving defenders homework wasn’t enough, so she started doing all of hers too. 📚🔥

Carli gave them girls buckets all season—and she’s going to run it back for more one more time this year.
