I built this rifle several years ago with the goal of getting into NRL—and with a little encouragement from some friends, I finally made it happen this past weekend.

It was easily the most fun I’ve had shooting in a long time… and I can already tell this is going to get expensive. 😄 The first day was a bit rough while I figured out the flow, but by day two I found my rhythm, connected on a lot more targets, and managed my time much better. I ended up finishing 14th in my class out of 32 shooters.

For those curious about the setup: I’m running a 25 Creedmoor built on a Defiance Ruckus action, Proof Research barrel, and XLR Magnesium 4.0 chassis, topped with a Zeiss LRP S3 and a Thunderbeast Ultra 7 suppressor. The whole setup came in just under the weight limit of 12 lb 10 oz.

I was shooting Berger 135s at 2880 FPS, and this combo performed incredibly well for this style of match.

Already looking forward to the next match in April.

Had the privilege to tag along with some good friends on a successful elk hunt.

One elk was harvested with a 7 SAUM we built and the other was one of our MT Rainier’s in 7 PRC
