Castle Rock Aikido & Iaido

Devon earned his 6th KYU rank a few weeks ago. Devon is a fast learner. He has lots of athletic aptitude and is a pleasure to train with. Congrats, Devon!

2nd KYU AIKIDO student, Casey, was in TOKYO last week - his first time visiting Japan. Here he is at HONBU DOJO trying to look very YAKUZA in his shades. Casey then made a quick trip to the new TOZANDO storefront. TOZANDO is where out IAIDO students get their KATANA from. He also made time to visits some beautiful gardens and shrines and managed to watch a KENDO demonstration along the way. Looks like a fun trip. Welcome back, Casey!

Deb is one of our AIKIDO black belts. She’s been training with us since she was 18 years old. Now she’s in her thirties. A few years ago, she gifted the DOJO with a piece of art that she made herself. It was her personal interpretation of our school’s logo (MON). Deb said she’d tattoo it on her arm one day. Well, here’s what she showed me last week… Looks pretty awesome, Deb!

Believe it or not, Deb is now the third person to put our logo on their body. I guess we’re starting a trend here. And, in case you’re wondering or are worried… No, getting a tattoo is definitively NOT a requirement for black belt. LOL.
