Sasha Yip | #8 | Attacking Midfielder

U14 Girls ECNL-RL

Three years in AFC colors and playing in the No. 10 role for Coach Alex Russell and the U14 Girls ECNL-RL squad.

Before AFC, Sasha developed her game with Castro Valley Soccer Club. Currently a student at California High School, she continues to compete and grow in the AFC midfield.

Her club of choice? Real Madrid.

A favorite of her teammates, and an excellent addition to our first player card deck.

ECNL Boys hit the road to face Napa United on Saturday, September 12th

ECNL RL Boys will defend the home turf against Davis Legacy on Sunday, September 13th.

U16 Boys ECNL

From Castro Valley Soccer Club to AFC, Gibson Anaya has spent nine years developing his game locally—including the last four wearing AFC blue, black, and white.

Now representing the U16 Boys ECNL squad under Coach Brendan McManus, Gibson leads the line at the striker position. Gibson is a student at Castro Valley High School.

Okay, maybe not exactly 9 to 5—but our AFC players have definitely been putting in the work early in the season.

So in honor of the late great Dolly—and Labor Day—we’re officially recommending you make the best of the long Labor Day weekend.

To our players: thank you for bringing the effort and competing every time you step on the field.

Coach Matt Haniver brings a wealth of experience to AFC as a UEFA A licensed coach, with a coaching background that includes time with Juventus Academy and Mount Pleasant Academy in Jamaica. Locally, Matt has coached with AFC partner Castro Valley Soccer Club and now plays an important role within AFC’s ECNL and ECNL-RL coaching staff.

A leader on the sideline, a devoted Liverpool FC supporter, and a talented golfer when he trades the pitch for the links, Coach Matt brings experience, personality, and a competitive edge to everything he does.
