The Barry Lovelace Athlete Training Academy is located in the Lehigh Valley, PA area where athletes from all over come to enjoy their workouts in a very respectful environment. The Academy and owner/trainer Barry Lovelace, a 5-Time Personal Trainer of the year in the Lehigh Valley, is recognized worldwide by athletes, coaches and parents. Nearly 200,000 athletes all over the world are using Barry Lovelace's training techniques including an Olympian, USA National Team Athletes, Professional Athletes, college athletes (D1, D2 and D3), many All-State/All-District/All-Conference athletes and adding more each year, All-Americans as well as State Champion teams. With the use of weights, kettlebells, bands, body weight and out of the box core and explosive training style we are able to create very powerful and explosive athletes who notice incredible changes in their game after just a few sessions. The training also aids in injury prevention. For all your sports performance needs, whether it is personal or a team, we can change your performance quickly in a safe environment loved by all athletes. NOTE: Athletes train with Barry Lovelace ONLY. There are no teenagers here helping out and putting your athlete through workouts while they are either on the phone or texting. Athletes are under the watchful eye of Barry. Drastic changes will not only be seen in physical performance, but the athletes confidence will also change for the better.

People often ask, "What the heck do you do there?"

Well, below is some of what we do.

Building explosive speed, higher vertical jumps, and bulletproof joint stability doesn't happen by accident. It requires a complete, science-backed system:

🏋️‍♂️ 1. Foundational Strength — Building the raw engine that powers every athletic movement.

⚡ 2. CNS Activation — Consistently firing up the Central Nervous System to recruit fast-twitch motor units for top-end speed and deceleration.

💥 3. Targeted Plyometrics — Training the Stretch-Shortening Cycle (SSC) to increase Reactive Strength Index (RSI) and ground stiffness.

🔁 4. Dynamic Band & Weight Loading — Combining elastic tension with resistance to maximize both eccentric (braking) and concentric (explosive) forces.

My goal with this post is simple: to help our athletes perform at their absolute best and stay healthy and injury-free.

With volleyball season starting up, conditioning is a huge topic of conversation every day, several times a day at the Academy. While long-distance running is often used as a go-to for general fitness, modern sports science and top trainers agree that it isn't ideal for explosive, court-based sports like volleyball—and can actually increase the risk of injury.

Please know that I never post BS training protocols etc. Everything I post is 100% legit and has worked, and is proven to have worked for a long, long time. The problem is, it may not 'feel' right to some because the opposite 'makes more sense'. And I get it, but I have never done anything with all of the teams and individuals I have worked with that wasn't proven to be beneficial to them. And I have never done anything that 'feels' right with the training. Here to help Peeps...Here to help.
