Well done, Cameron!
This young man is Cameron Shinault, a senior at IVHS and our April Service Above Self Student (shown here with his parents). Cameron impressed us so much with his hard work in school, sports, community volunteer activities, and his appreciation for his parents, teachers and what he learned attending RYLA camp. Cameron plans to attend OIT and study to become a radiologist. We know he'll continue to be a great asset to his community. Congratulations, and well done, Cameron! 👏

As you know, the Los Angeles area has been devastated by large fires that are burning out of control in several areas. Many thousands of homes have been destroyed, and tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated. Our Rotary colleagues in the affected Districts - Districts 5280 and 5300 - have activated District Disaster Relief Funds to assist the victims of the fires. District 5280 (Los Angeles) has also created a Resource Directory and online spreadsheet for In-Kind Donations.

From District 5280 Governor Albert Hernandez:
We have created a Wildfires Resource Page so all our clubs, members and partnering Districts can make a monetary donation, make resources available to those in need, seek resources and provide collaborative support in the ways of meals, water, blankets, etc.
🌍💛 District 5280 sends you a big THANK YOU for your emails, phone calls, texts and more. In the past few days we’ve received so much love that has turned into action. We’ve supported local agencies who are on the frontlines, we developed a Rotarian Relief Fund for our Rotarians who’ve lost so much. And we established a Disaster Relief Grant for our clubs to conduct service projects that directly support the impacted areas and our first responders.
🙏 Thank you, Rotary World, for standing with us in this critical time. Your support fuels our mission to serve and rebuild lives.

*HWY 199 CLEAN UP THIS SATURDAY*
Rotary Club of Illinois Valley (RCIV) will hold its quarterly Adopt-a-Highway road cleanup Saturday, Oct. 5. Club members and volunteers will meet at Illinois Valley Golf Club, starting at 9 a.m. Bags, safety vests, and trash grabbers are provided.
RCIV partners with Oregon Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) to clean trash from a section of Hwy. 199 stretching from near Kerby to the south end of Cave Junction. Rotarians and volunteers usually work for close to two hours, netting dozens of bags of debris from the roadside. ODOT’s crews then retrieve the bright yellow bags for disposal.
Volunteers are welcome to join in. Participants must be at least 16 years of age to work on the state highway.
For more information, message Rotary Club of Illinois Valley through Facebook: facebook.com/IllinoisValleyRotaryClub.
