If you did the half marathon last weekend, join us this Saturday for a relaxed 5K parkrun to shake out those legs a week after your big half marathon!

If you didn’t do the half marathon, join us this Saturday for a relaxed 5K parkrun.

Where: Canyon View Park West (7:45 for an 8:00 AM start).

Cost: 100% Free! Please bring your digital or printed barcode.

The Vibe: Low pressure, easy recovery pace, walk, jog or run.

Post-Run: Join us for a well-deserved coffee, breakfast and chat afterward.

Greetings from Munich, Coal Creek Trail parkrun family! ✈️🇩🇪

Your resident parkrun tourist, Elsa, checking in with a recap from my first global adventure at the Riemer parkrun in Germany! 🏃‍♀️🚶‍♂️🐕

Coming from our high-altitude home turf in Cedar City, I have to tell you, parkrunning at 1,700 feet feels like an absolute breeze!

Here is how a gorgeous morning in Germany stacked up:

The Course: Easily accessible right from the U-Bahn Subway, this beautiful route is a unique figure-eight loop around a stunning lake that even takes you down an old runway from the former Munich-Riem Airport.

The Elevation: While we are used to heading straight up into Cedar Canyon, Riemer offered a wonderfully flat and scenic course with only 43 feet of elevation gain!

The Community: Just like home, the parkrun spirit is alive and well across the Atlantic. There were 107 participants out on the path, including runners, walkers, strollers, and so many happy puppies.

The Apres-parkrun: You know I couldn’t skip the best part of the morning! Instead of our usual post-run gathering at Vittles Café, we finished the morning with delicious coffee and fresh pastries at a nearby German café. Most parkrunners came to the café afterwards, including the puppies!☕🥐

It was an incredible reminder of how the parkrun community connects us all, no matter where we are in the world. I can’t wait to bring some of this German energy back to Utah with me!

BREAKING NEWS: This Saturday’s parkrun has been CANCELLED — not because we’re lazy, not because we’re scared of hills, and not because someone took home our finish token (again).

Nope. The Cedar City Half Marathon is happening, and apparently they need all the space. You understand … Half Marathons, with their attention seeking behavior.

To our regulars doing the half marathon, go and crush it and please remember that parkrun will still love you even after you cheat on us with 13.1 miles.

We’ll be back on Saturday, September 19th, refreshed, ready to reclaim our turf and still proudly only 5K long.

We’ll see you next week.
