Star trac center drive leg extension
This line of star trac came out very shortly after they took over flex fitness. This gave them just enough time to change the name on the shrouds and modify approximately nothing on the machine itself; which turns out was probably their best decision they made while they were still active. Apart from aesthetics it is functionally the same machine as the flex, and as such, boasts the same features that made the previous iteration great.
First and foremost? ROM. It has excellent range. This is the first horse that needs to cross the finish line with me for most machines, leg extensions in particular. Secondly! The seat sits at a steeper angle. This causes slightly more hip extension thus putting more stretch on the origin of the quadricep cluster, the re**us femoris (crosses the hip joint) in particular. Also the weight stack goes up to like 300lbs. No gym pin necessary.
My one complaint is a known issue, thats the seat adjustment mechanism. It operates on a button, cable, gas shock system which is extremely prone to failure. My advice for anyone wanting to avoid spending $800 on the gas shock and replacement cable/button? Literally drill 3/8 holes through the frame on both sides and shove a weight pin in there. Works famously.
