I hit a wall at a Spartan race that I couldn’t get over. The sandbag I managed. But the wall broke me.

When I looked at photos later, it hit me — the belly, the lack of conditioning. I wasn’t in any shape to be doing that race. Comfortable, but not proud.

So I made a choice. No more excuses. Just consistent work. And in 90 days, the proof is here: ↓ 16 lbs gone. Not perfect. Not easy. But real.

HIIT isn’t the fat loss king you’ve been told it is. Most people think you have to do brutal HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) to burn fat. HIIT is tough, burns mostly carbs for fuel, and takes longer to recover from. Which means you can’t do it as often without messing with your strength training. LISS (Low Intensity Solid State) in a Heart Rate BPM range within Zone 2, tells your body to utilize more body fat for fuel. It’s less impact, easier to recover from, and can do more of it and stay consistent. Also, theres no hunger spike after so less risk of ruining progress. There’s definitely a time and a place for HIIT, but if stress affects you easily, and you want to a avoid a cortisol spike which will have your body holding into fat, I’d recommend trying LISS for a while.
