1. Flavor vs fuss…I don’t know if it’s the economy or changing trends but people did not seem into extra design elements, they were tuned into simple, beautiful and delicious
2. EVERYONE was super last minute, we baked extras of everything hoping that would be the case, and sold about half our Easter offerings to walk ins Friday/Saturday even though we offered preorder
3. Smaller gatherings—-Covid implications still seem to be lingering. Not sure if it’s habit now that families are in smaller micro groups? Next time I will add a smaller bar or shooter box for 6-12 vs only 12-24
4. People were crazy for carrot everything. I thought we had a lot, but it sold@out fast and everyone was asking. Next time I’ll double down for quantities or add another carrot item, or both
5. You cannot post too much on social (but try to keep it interesting). It can feel awkward to post a lot, but we got orders every time we did. You never know who is seeing it (or not seeing it) each time, or when they need to see it to want to buy it (like maybe the first time they saw it they were like, “oh, nice” but the second time was right after their mother in law asked them to bring dessert! 😂
What trends did you see?

Just for the J.O.Y.
This week was about getting back to the sheer joy of it. Picking your passion as your career is a gift, but every once in a while I need a little recalibration between business, work, and joy.
This cake was all about fun, taking the time to enjoy the process, and smiling every time I saw it in the fridge.
Sometimes, really all the time, the BEST thing you can be is wholeheartedly YOU and cancel out the noise of people who say different.

I think the universe is trying to tell me something….this year has been full of requests for
Which has led me to rediscover all the quotes, especially this one—
“I’m not strange, weird, off or crazy, my reality is just different than yours.”
This year more than ever I am clear about my path and believe in it. I am talking about it as a reality. And lots of responses do not feel the most supportive on the surface.
I have heard doubts, fears, and naysayers. Not out of malice, but more when my dreams are outside of other peoples comfort zones or perceived realities.
Those responses were crushing me and causing doubt, but I have come to realize we all create our own realities, and whatever they are is ok. Others don’t have to see it for it to be possible. We all get to pick any path, believe in it, and pursue it.

When pricing your offerings, remember that “easy” should not de-VALUE your work. Talent, even for the elite (like top tier athletes), is part innate plus an incredible amount of practice, dedication, success and learning.
You have dedicated yourself to constantly growing your talents, and just because after hours and hours and days and years of experience it has become simpler and you are proficient doesn’t mean that “easy” doesn’t have enormous value.
When pricing your creations, the cost of your ingredients, materials, and time are important, but don’t forget to factor in your hard earned talent.
