Hello, I will do my best to explain what I am about to say.

The idea behind Texas Blind Soccer was originally a selfish one. I wanted to create an opportunity for myself to continue to play soccer.

That idea quickly changed as I realized how many children and adults wanted to play just like me.

What I overlooked is how hard it would be to build a program for everyone as someone who is visually impaired and unable to drive.

My condition is progressive and every so often I lose a little more sight. Being in the late stages of my condition, even the loss of a little bit has a major impact.

Not only have I just lost more sight but now I have to readjust how I do everything on top of that I have to grieve that loss.

I know there are plenty of people out there who have already lost all their sight making life work for them.

For me, the continual adjustment to the progressive sight loss has taken its toll.
Again, it may seem strange to hear this because I spend time with so many who are already in this position.

However, it’s still difficult as I transition.

Because of this, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Texas Blind Soccer.

I will be forever grateful for the invaluable experience I have received from the participants, coaches and volunteers of Texas Blind Soccer.

Lead with compassion
Love unconditionally
Listen to understand

Much Love,

Coach Mark

It was a great weekend for our organization and the sport of blind soccer in the U.S. Thanks to Samir Sabir and the Moroccan National Team and coaches for travelling such a great distance to help us out. We look forward to a great partnership with our new brothers from Morocco and an even greater event in the years to come. We will be posting pictures from the event in a few days.
