🤠 Another FULL day in South Dakota! 🤠

We started our morning with a guided tour of historic Deadwood, SD, where we learned a little about the area’s gold-mining history and saw the spot where the legendary Wild Bill Hickok met his fate. 🃏

Then we had the afternoon to explore Deadwood on our own — and I think we covered just about everything! 😂 A cold brew 🍺, a little lunch, a Mustang rally 🚗, glass blowing, a little casino time 🎰, a stagecoach ride 🐎… and, of course, ICE CREAM! 🍦 Because no Whisked Away trip is complete without finding the ice cream!

From Deadwood, we headed through Spearfish and made a stop at the High Plains Western Heritage Center, where we got another glimpse into the history and culture of the American West.

Dinner tonight was at Pizza Ranch 🍕 before heading back to our hotel in Lead.

And since we actually made it back a little early tonight, our group split into two camps: those smart people who took advantage of it and caught up on some much-needed sleep… 😴 and the rest of us who somehow turned the hotel lobby into an impromptu social hour! 😂❤️

Another day of history, scenery, laughter, food, fun and friendship with a pretty great group of travelers.

What a fun few days up in South Dakota. On Wednesday we started our day with a visit to the Journey Museum in Rapid City for some cultural and geological history. We then made our way to the quaint little town of Hill City. We had time on our own to explore and enjoy some lunch.
After lunch we set off for the Crazy Horse Memorial. It was extremely interesting learning about the sculpture - how it got started and funded and how it’s progressing since the death of the sculptor. It’s actually progressing faster than you can see & projected to be finished in 15-20 years.
Dinner brought us to Park 707 for a delicious buffet with entertainment. My group let their hair down and we had a blast!
Then back to our hotel in Lead for a late night and time to get ready for another exciting day on Thursday.

What a day we had yesterday starting with Borglum Museum, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park where we saw bison, antelope, donkeys and prairie dogs. We finished our evening with a time to browse the Dances with Wolves film set and an old town. Then a Chuck Wagon dinner complete with a fantastic show by the Fort Hays Wranglers.

I’m so grateful for the wonderful response to our Whisked Away trips! 💚 As trips continue to fill up, I want to make sure the reservation process is fair to everyone.

When you ask me to reserve a seat for you, I will hold your seat for up to THREE WEEKS while waiting for your deposit.**
** Unless other arrangements were made with me.

If I have not received your deposit within those three weeks, your name will be moved to the waiting list so that I can offer the seat to someone else who is ready to book.

Once your deposit is received, I’ll be happy to add you back to the trip as long as space is still available.

💵 On most trips a nominal fee of $75 deposit per person officially holds your seat.

I completely understand that plans can change! If you decide not to go, just let me know so I can make the seat available to someone else.
